Ed told me to run the Dynamite 086 pipe and header, and if you have it, use the O.S. header that comes with the 2050 pipe with the 086 pipe. These engines like shorter headers, and The O.S. header is shorter than the Dynamite header that comes with the 086 pipe. He also told me to use the P4 plug with it.
I have yet to experience what everyone is talking about with the carbs. I haven't tuned this engine any different than any other engine i've had. The engine holds a tune well and has lots of bottom end punch and alot of top end speed. So far, i love it.

The 086 was probably the most powerful pipe we ran on the Ebm5 full mod but we got better mileage with the Go 0801. Last weekend we ran a Nova 9901, I think it may be the best of both worlds, great power and good runtime.

tghe p6 plug is a cold plug isnt it ? isnt the rule of thunb the motor nitro content the cooler the plug ? thats what i have always done anyway ...
i used to have trouble with the p3 plugs my self aswell but i tend to lean towards a p4 plug

I was out this afternoon running my 7-port turbo that I am breaking in. was going good all of a sudden FLAME OUT! So I did not panic checked temp was at 190 about where I had it with the heat gun. So I reset all needles, still flaming out. From my experience on this thread and the education that I have gotten from every one I realized there was something else going on. First thing I did was replace glow plug. went from os p-4 too os p-3. that motor does not like those plugs. Now ed bridges told me to only use the os-p3 in my 5 port. and it does not like any other plug. well I took it in the shop checked fuel filter, lines noticed air filter outer cover was a little dirty so I put on a clean one.I also took out the hsn,and to my surprise around the threads it looked like rubber gasket material? so I blew through the pressure line while holding a paper towel under the fuel inlet opening and out came more rubber particals. I basically just flushed it out and put needle back in. Back somewhere in this thread a gent was going to try the O'Donnell OD77T turbo plug. I did and by god that engine really likes that plug. So who ever suggested that plug thank you. I am going to run it in my 7 port turbo and save the 8.00 os plugs for my eb modded 5 port. So what did I learn from this thread? when my go tec starts acting up it is not necessarily the engine. mine have always stayed in tune. this particular engine I had set the needles once and never touched again until today. the other thing was don't panic, and I noticed I was getting a little anxious. thinking the carb the carb, got to be some thing wrong with the carb. sht I have everything set like the forum say's to. saved my self a lot of time and head ache just going over everything. and having faith in this product. was it the rubber stuff around the hsn needle? don't think so I think it was the glow plug. I think my whole point to this story for me is if the engines running good and you've done your home work there really is no problem only a quick solution. KNOW YOUR PRODUCT

Okay first i know, dont tune for temps. but i gotta ask...
What is a reasonable temp range for the go sport 21 3 port with an 86 pipe.. im not seeking a exact temp just a range where they are commonly happy with.
I know the sts was happy at about the 230 range, just want to know if this is a normal temp motor or one that likes to cook. example the os rg liked 290-310 by design while the novas i have worked with like about 195-210 and the werks engine i owned well i was just happy to see it run at all so i didnt temp it. It that was a rare and very short lived thing (still have it, it is untunable).

These are some of the things that determine engine temp
Fuel
Filter
Surface
Tyres
Body
Clutch
Head
Pipe
Wing angle
Diff oils
Wheel Bearings
and probably more ...
in order to give you a temp we would have to factor in all these perameters and then use some sort of mathematical formula to average an answer for you .
OR
you can run the engine at a good tune and after 30 mins of run time getting decent tank time, temp the engine with a decent temp gun and thats the temp it likes to run at.
Cheers MM

There is no such thing as a " Correct temp " to run at.

thank you, that was already understood and stated in the message you quoted.

take another one to your local hobbie store and try to match up. yes I have put 5.5 carb's on my go-tecs .easier to tune.
