Other than culling info from this very long thread, has anyone put together a Go-specific tuning guide on the net anywhere? I'm about to break my 3-port in, and it's the first "race" motor I've ever broken in (and only my 2nd nitro, the first one was my Nitro Hawk 14 years ago, which doesn't really count). I'm using Brian's method from Pro-Twister Mods, but the documentation that came with my motor is a little, um, "lacking" (as is their website).

Just wondering, since I am paranoid about grenading a perfectly good, new motor that I've spent hours getting ready to start (double checking the settings, getting the starter box lined up perfectly, etc).

Just give Brian a call, I am sure he will help you any way he can:nod:. They are still working on the web site... Its only been up for a couple of days.

Brians run in method is really good it's almost exactly what I do. Once run in one thing I will say is tune for performance not temp as there is so many differences in temp guns they're not worth the headaches they provide.

if your engine has a Long LSN then tune for bottom end first once your happy with that then tune the HSN it won't need much (depending on fuel plug pipe atmostphere etc) any where from a couple of hours to 1 turn.

If it's got a short LSN then it'll tune pretty much like any other nitro engine.

if your worried about temps then the spit test is always good, put a small amount of spit on your finger and transfer it to the head of the engine

If it doesn't bubble it's to cold

if it bubbles slowly but doesn't evaporate quickly you pretty good

if it bubbles and evaporates quickly your too hot.

There are a lot of things you can do while tuning but it would take me all night to write them in here:lol:

If you've got any issues when you get up and running feel free to ask questions as I'm sure you'll get answers pretty quickly on this thread as we all want go users to get the most out of their gear.

Brians break in method in detail on Page 78 ( toward bottom of page) of this forum. Like retro RC said it works a treat. Be patient with the first gallon or so and you will be rewarded with a powerful and long lasting motor.

Long LSN tuning guide about 1/3 down page 131 on this thread, from Massive Mods. Follow this and you won't / can't go wrong. If you get a short needle carb just tune as per any other motor.
Cheers grizz

Thanks guys - and one clarification: I wasn't talking about Brian's site, I was referring to Go's site! Just so there's no misunderstandings.

But thanks for the tips and I will keep in mind as I try and break this bad boy in over the long weekend coming up.

Just realized I posted my question on the 3 port Go thread. Figured it should be here instead:

Question for the GO guru's. Can you drop in the piston and sleeve of a 5 port into a 7 port with good performance results?

Is it a direct replacement? Will the carb be an issue?

chim13 11-25-2008 07:24 AM

Does anybody know anything about this new M5 ebmod go engine

x195svt 11-25-2008 07:42 AM

i would like to know a little more as well. I'm sure it's a modded 5 port but I would like to know how much it's gonna cost.

from my understanding the 5/7 port cases are the same case so you shouldnt have any problems with that even the carb should be no problems no difference in performance besides the ports

NitroLuver 11-25-2008 08:45 AM

that m5 looks sick...wonder how they'll preform as the go 21 5 I had was plenty fast already and all it had was an os 2050(non turbo at that)

Rocket42 11-25-2008 08:54 AM

you should be able to change the piston and sleeve out between all of the race .21's without a problem.

We are taking pre orders on the ebmods engines, the first 100 will include a free Go restrictor kit. Some of the details are still being worked out on the engine so we don't have them in stock yet. We are gonna try and get them here as soon as possible.

zJatoRad 11-25-2008 10:33 AM

I know what's going to be my next engine :sneaky:
