My PTM 5 port will be my 1st quality race mill and was wondering what is the best way to use after run oil and how often to do it. I race usually saturdays only and thursday or friday every week I will take my truggy out and fire itup just to make shure everything is okay.

Malik,
you got your motor... Have you fired it up yet? You need a ride Saturday to OakHill? |
I'm running one of Brian's modded .25 6port's and haven't had any trouble with the the stock carb. When I was breaking it in I noticed the needles were very sensetive to small changes. It seemed like the HSN was set too lean for breakin and the low speed needle was too rich.I couldn't even get the glow ignitor off the glowplug without it stalling.I switched to an OS LC3 with 2 copper washers and the thing never stalled after that.I would suggest not even trying to run it with the stock #5 plug until breaks in.The only thing I done was sealed the metal to plastic joint on the carb and the pinch bolt.I ran it at the Pro series race at JCP this past weekend and made 8 minutes on fuel with a 7mm restrictor in my Xray. Here's a pic of the carb and an extra shot of my truck.

No Jamie I didnt get it yet and am very doubtful any delivery service works tomorrow. I dont have an engine so I cant run this week. It was supposed to be here IDK. I got my bump box today, if a miracle happens and it comes tomorrow I will call you.

Jackie is a great driver, and a bit tuff to please,(I should know, I'm his pit biatch) if he is happy that engine has got to be good. And WOW you even cleaned it, I take it that was before you got to the Pro Series race!!!!! Sure wish I could have made it.........

ok my 7 port is acting up on me, luckily i have a trusty 3 port r that runs perfect as a backup. For some reason its just blowing glow plugs, even with the needles set at hsn flush and lsn in 1 turn, blew a p3 plug. Then tried 2 turns in on the lsn, flush on the hsn, blew a plug, then gave up cause thats about 20 bux in glow plugs. The engine will run fine with a new plug.. then flame out about 20 feet after its run. The first plug the coil was completely distorted, the second plug it just fried but visually the plug looked brand new, so any ideas?

Which Novarossi carbs are you or others using? I found three different Novarossi carbs.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/4776 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/8844 (I think the first two are the same except for the venturi carb restictors) http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Novarossi-3-5...QQcmdZViewItem I also found three different OS carbs. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/11865 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/6213 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/14754 Which would any of you guys recommend? Thanks I personally own 3 go engines and only ever had tuning issues with 1 which I sorted out with a new carb body, My first GO is a 7pt coming up 2 years ago that has done over 40 litres (10 gallons) and has only had the bearings and rod changed at about 35 litres and still has a tone of compression I also brought a rossi plus 5-t at the same time that lasted about 5-6 litres before the rear bearing went taking out the rest of the engine - but the carb was great. I'm currently a top 10 ranked driver in our country and am not sponsered by Go in any way. I choose to run Go engines because of -there price, reliability, and longevity of their product ( this is going on my experience with GO engines) so I'm sorry to hear that some are having problems to the point of giving up on the product as Go seem to be a company that are striving to improve their product all the time. Cheesecake I'm about to run in a Gen 5 engine so I'll keep you informed on how the new carbs compare to the last generation Adrian:tire: |
can you get me pictures of the carb and engine so i can compare it to mine?

Well I was having a running problem last weekend that I posted earlier and was reading some posts and made sure my needle settings were flush on the HSN and 2.5 turns in from flush on the LSN for my 7-port and TA-DA!!!! RAN BEAUTIFUL THE WHOLE TIME!!! Was running between 245-260. I only barely tuned it with the LSN and turn it in a half turn more because it would load up a little at idle and it was perfect! Idled forever and tons of power. Thanks for the info guys! NO CARB PROBLEMS HERE.

Thanks to everyone that posted and pm'd me with help on getting my motor started (piston was getting stuck). I finally got it started and idled through the first tank last night. However, then, and now the motor will not stay running without the Glow ignitor attached. I've got the HSN about flush and the LSN is about 1.5 turns in from flush (info from page 78). I'm using OS P3 plugs, have the head wrapped, and have to keep hitting the motor with the heat gun to keep the temps up in the 240 - 250 range. Any ideas as to why the engine dies without the ignitor on?
Oh yea, I'm using Odonnells 30%. |
chucked, sounds like its the glow plug.
