Hi jnc011994

It should idle for quite some time before dying, certainly more then 10 secs.
When you have the LSN set right you will get a steady smooth idle and a very punchy take off from a standing start with full throttle.
Run the buggy for 30 secs or so and bring it in. If the idle starts high and then drops off quite markedly in a short time, your LSN is too rich. Lean 1/8 th of a turn at a time and repeat. When the buggy comes in and the idle stays the same speed for 15 secs or so, or even longer you are pretty close.
If the idle gets very erratic, speeding up and surging, your LSN is too lean, so richen by 1/8 of a turn at a time until you get the steady idle.
Providing you are running the long LSN all you need to do now is tweak the HSN a little if necessary for a nice top end. Do not lean by more then 1/4 turn though or you might start to get lean bog at half tank or lower. Basically leave the HSN at the .5 mark and tune with the LSN as described above.
Remember - this is only for the long LSN carb. Cheers

Most likely you overtightened the plug and stripped the threads on the button. You need to take the engine apart and clean it well in case any debrisgot inside and replace the head button. At least they are cheap!

I do think i have the Long LSN, since its an old engine, i bought this engine 6 or 7 months ago. And yes, when i tested it, under running temp (i don't have a temp gun, but the engine is already hot) the idle starts high and drop off after 5 sec. which mean that i'm still running rich. I would re-test this on saturday so that i could get the desired condition on race time. really appreciate the help. One more thing, is the setting for the .28 Red Head the same with the .21? I also have an old .28.

Read the bottom of page 78 on this thread.
Follow that and you will be good to go.

Yep, that will be the long LSN.
You don't need a temp gun, just use the good old spit method. Wipe a bit of spit onto the top of the cooling head.
If it just sits there and takes more than 15 secs to evaporate away you are a bit cold. If it sizzles and pops and evaporates straight away, you are too hot. If it steadily evaporates away over 5 - 10 secs you are good to go.
I am pretty sure the .28 has the same carb as the .21. Perhaps someone else could confirm that for you ?

+1 on that. That break in works a treat and is kind to the engine too.

Pipes for R217PT

hey guys,

after years with R&B motors i decided to try the R217PT, just because i'm curious. i've heard so many good things about them.
my question would be which pipes can you recommend on this engine? i know there is a motorbox with a go-pipe included, but are there any other pipes worth to try? (e.g. the ae/tt 2035, which suits to quite a lot of engines...)

thx in advance!

best pipe for .21 7 port is the dyn 053 or go 0801

Hi TMizzle, nice looking ride
Good to see you have Go and VP Pro onboard. There is a group of six of us down here in NZ that are running an XRay 808, GO, VP PRO combination. Looks like we have the brands covered between us eh??

Now we got to get you guys over to the world champ buggy. :sneaky: lol. Just kidding. Most of the guys in my area run the 808 since RCamerica is right here in Texas.
