Nm I went to the LHS an hour away got 3 p3 and a gallon of fuel :).

Cannonball 04-23-2008 02:39 PM

Hey SqueegUK, if you coming to Jhb, unfortunately there's no Byron fuel agency in Jhb that I know of, most guys here in Jhb use Sidewinder, made under licence or make their own fuel. IMO this is about the best fuel available here. After trying out different brands, this is the most consistent and reliable.

David Alberico 04-23-2008 02:39 PM

This past weekend Cameron Martin put a Go .25 in the Amain.

I myself was in the the A main with the .21 5 port. There were only 46 entries in the expert class :(, compared to 64 in the sportsman.

SqueegUK 04-23-2008 02:51 PM

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it will be Jhb, my daughter lives in Randburg.

Comments :

CAR (CEN Matrix FRE) : Just very happy with it, it was a 3 1/2 days process to "know" the car (first time ever touching dirt was on that race), felt guilty for not having the time to know the car before the race. The initial setup was 180º different from the final setup, wich i liked very very well (posted up on this text). My offroad experience prior to get the CEN car was almost 3 years of MT (Tamiya TNX and Losi ones) and Jammin FTE Buggy, and i must say that im very surprised by the performance of the CEN buggy, the setups are very different of what i used on the jammin, but its a very stable and fast with a high rotation capability and great jumping, waaay more agressive than my jammin and very good on the feeling of every change you do on the setup. Thanks CEN USA for giving me the chance of raceing for you, hope to give better results during this 2008 season.

Engine (GO Engines .21 7 ports) : Just amazing. One of the fastest on the straight even with the 7mm restrictor, great kick for technical sections and 8 minutes and 45 seconds of run time. Not a single flameout during the whole event, not a single sign of hesitation or anything, just due to a pitman mistake, my 1/4th finals started a little rich and he tried to solve that during pit entries. The pipe combination was very very good and it seemed that the clutch setup was perfect for what i needed from this engine. A lot of people were interested on see my engine and in fact a very well know southamerican modder ended asking me permission and opening my engine for see what was inside :), he was very pleased with what he saw and gave me a "congrats" about it.

Tyres (VP PRO 802 - Soft) : Very very good choice. I tried the adviced tyres for the track (Panther Gator Soft and Proline CF M3) but when i fitted the VP PRO 802-Soft the car was on rails and with a very good wear rate. I hope you guys in USA and other countries have the chance to test them out, keep an eye on the new 804 tyre in soft and medium compounds !!.

Clutch (M2C 4 Shoe) : I selected the regular mediums for this race, with 1.0 springs x 4. Excellent choice, great response and very very low wear rate, in fact i dissasembled the whole clutch setup just for checking it and its almost new after more than 5 hours of use.

Air Filter and Clutch Bearings (Power Save Racing) : Great products as usual, the track had a little dusty condition and a lot of drivers had clutch bearing problems, i used the Power Save Racing ones and i just changed them once just for precaution but they are almost new without problems. Filters as usual worked flawlesly, best air filters i ever used.

Here you have couple videos a friend took of my CEN on the track during 1/4th finals. Maaaaaaaan that stop and go i received on the start made me crazy now im watching it, any opinion about it ?, well applied ?, i lost the chance to go for semifinals by 2 seconds, and the stop and go was 10 seconds so do the math :( :

Soon i will be publishing more videos of the race with shots from the finals and all ...

Thanks to all my sponsors, this is my first big event of 2008 season, hope to make it better for all you next time !!!

Well put the first 2 tanks through the .21 5 port turbo today.

Wow First off its super tight, but you guys aleady know that. After we got it running it idled perfect so I left it idle for 15 minutes it averaged 200-230 degrees.

I know people say these engines dont wake up until the gallon and a half mark, but if it wakes up then I cant imagine how powerful its going to be its tossing my buddies truggy around like nothing being rich and on short throttle bursts.

My goal is to get half a gallon on it before my race on may 3rd. maybe more if the weather cooperates. The engine is going into an 808 I need to pick up some restrictors for it where can I get some and how much are they. I need thme by the 3rd.

Dang Tabushi, that's an awesome race report.

The general rule of thumb with plugs, weather they are turbo or standard is this......
The colder the weather is, the hotter the plug you should use and vice-versa too..........
The hotter the weather is your running the car/motor in, the colder the plug you should use.

If your running in anywhere near feezing temps........if your as mad as I used to be ...lol. Then go very hot! A 4 or even a 3 plug! (I've heard some have had good success with running the 3 even when it's slightley warmer too (40's !)
Then go to 5 and 6 plugs as you get up to 50 degrees or so and so on up the temp sclae.

When it gets stupid hot, over 90 degrees and above. You should be looking at 7 and 8 plugs! They are very cold plugs.

One thing to remember. Hot plugs 9for the conditions/ temps your driving in, help keep a good steady idle! The colder you go with the plugs, you may see idle problems!

This is by no means the end of the "which plug to use" story. But this temp indication will get you very close to the ideal plug you need for the conditions your going to be driving in.

Hope this all helps.

British Menace

Plugs to use .. well whatever works but general rule of thumb is

Hot Plug low to 15 % nitro
Med Plug 16 to 25 % nitro
Cold Plug 26 to 35 % nitro
Very Cold Plug 36 to 65 % nitro

the difference usually is the thickness of the filament , thicker filament means coole rplug , this is adapt for high nitro because of the greater force in the combustion chamber , the thicker wire can take it better than a med plug.. it also retards ignition timing which can help prevent pre ignition when using high nitro fuels.

Benefits of Med to Hot plugs is better idle , cleaner take off , but arent as robust .

Hope this helps

Hey mugenb46,

I'm getting a losi 8ight on top of my 8T. What GO do I want to put in my buggy? And where is the best place to purchase it? I'll be wanting the engine within a couple of weeks. This hobby seems to take up all my extra $$$ so I'll be saving for the mill. Thanks for the help once again. Oh, what's the price as well?

8 buggy? 3 port race. this motor will be very nice in the losi, i thought first the modded 7 port, but from what I'm hearing the 7 port is quite a handfull, the 3 port will work very well. I have some 3 ports, stock 180 modded 260.
