It is definitely a good option to try and it made my car quite a bit faster and easier to drive at the same time.

Thanks Dan, I ll try this plates soon.

Thanx dan. Was worried cuz the out drive at a certain point in it's rotation is almost touching the hinge pin as well.

The replace the nose of the previous part, centering the suspension mount, and adding some sideways resistance.

Thanks. I was under that impression, but wasn't sure.

Sorry, I misread your question. As another has said the screws are there to centre the block in the chassis. Make sure to loctite them in.

Quick question for everyone, has anyone heard any news or roumors if there might be new diffs comming out? With the trend of everyone going with thicker and thicker "fluid" it would be nice to be able to drop down and still have the same diff action as the 1 and 2.5 mil.

Np. Thanx for the info. Another Question. I just ordered the new 2speed. I would like to keep a cvd drive line. What length center drive shafts am I going to need, as to my understanding is that the new 3.0 2 speed in shorter.

What are you loocking for?

Use same basic setup as before, ride height 7-8mm front and 8-9mm rear, depending on your track condition.

wichitafc98 02-17-2017 12:47 PM

How do you mount it on the car are there any instructions?

It's fairly simple. Just remove the front and rear diff cases, front bumper assembly and the steering assembly from the chassis. Put the spacers in position then simply put the diff cases and steering assembly back on top and bolt up with the supplied longer screws. The small black bumper spacers are installed between the upper and lower plates so that it all lines up. Really very easy and straight forward. Once you start it'll all make sense.

The 2.0 cvds fit fine. Honestly the 3.0 dogbone setup is much better than the cvd setup. Less wear, stronger and easier maintenance.

wichitafc98 02-17-2017 02:59 PM

Do you have pictures up close? I am going to add these from scratch on my version 3. I have a version 2.

wichitafc98 02-17-2017 08:01 PM

anyone have a setup sheet for their GT.

petersen114 02-17-2017 09:21 PM

I just got around to putting the 3.0 2 speed in and noticed that the outdrives are touching the radio tray. Are the 3.0 outdrives shorter???

You changed the centre blocks to the 3.0 version too right? The out drives from the gearbox are the same 2.0 vs 3.0. P/N 600590

Have you shimmed the bearings on the gearbox to remove play? Perhaps you've got too many shims up front?

It's very difficult to see once installed. Honestly its very easy just put the spacer plates on the chassis and reinstall/build the car exactly the same way as the manual shows. Once you offer up the spacers to the chassis plate it will all become clear.

Plenty on the serpent website. The latest few setups listed will all work well.

I got the 3.0 2-speed kit #600716 and assembled it using the 3.0 manual. The only shims I used was the one behind the front bearing and the spacer between the gears. The front is touching as well. I had the same issue w/ the V-1 gearbox, but the outdrives were not quite touching. Maybe I got the wrong outdrives in the kit??? How long should the center outdrives be? The ones I got could stand to have about 2mm milled off the ends.

Seems strange. Mine clear the radio box by quite a bit. I'll have another look when I get home and post some pictures

Maybe you could measure your outdrives or total length end to end of your 2-speed. My outdrives are 20mm. Total length is 72mm. I appreciate your help.

What bodies are popular and where you ordering from? Many seem to be out of stock.

i got a nice vet from proline, now for my question. i see differen't wheel dia. available any real performance difference?

petersen114 02-19-2017 01:58 PM

I dont have a droop gauge. I set my droop by shock length with my off-roads. For stock droop what should my shock lengths be for the Cobra GT???

pbr 02-19-2017 02:39 PM

Depends what you're going to use it for. JZR flow hardest come by but one of the fastest and balanced Bodies. Sweep , blitz, and the new Corvette body . It finished 3rd at the winter NAT s in Florida this weekend. But it probably is on of the hardest to set up

pbr 02-19-2017 02:42 PM

I also saw some people asking about diff oil. 1 m in front and 60 k on the rear . Good starting points .

TT120 02-21-2017 03:03 PM

I just picked up a Cobra GT last week and spent the week reading all 142 pages of this thread. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get some of the upgrades everyone has like the pro brake set and the 10 deg chubs and whatnot. I've been to every web site mentioned in this thread but they all say these upgrades have been discontinued and are not in stock.

Also had a question about the clutchbell and the buku clutch. It seems that either the flywheel is too thick or the bell is too long as it makes contact with the flywheel. I can shim it out but then the engine shaft is not long enough. Has anyone dealt with any of this before?
