The 710 is an awesome car...I think that all the other compaines have some catching up to do. I'll be pulling out the electric car now for a few weeks. I have been running gas when I should have been getting ready for the norrca nationals at TFB.

I wish I had an Xray.

The Xray is indeed a fine car to have. Wasn't there a Xray challenge race there at TFB?

Yes, it was the Serpent/Xray/Hudy TCC.
The thing about the event though was that all makes of cars were allowed to compete. I don't think that we could have mustered any type of decent turnout with just Serpent and Xray cars. I still put down the fastest lap time of the weekend, though:D . My countless engine troubles plagued my final results, however.

I have been contemplating the Xray since their new car's successful carpet season. There is just one thing in my way at the moment ($$$$$$$)!

Clutch problem: fixed

I got my clutch problem fixed today, with an unexpected solution.

I first continue break-in my Picco XP .12 5ports with 10% fuel. Than trying to do some break-in run over the track. However, even with clutch rebuilded, the problem still exist. Replacing new flyweight, no work. And the shop doesn't have yellow shoe to try with. Still in the same trouble with last week...:(

But since my new engine is almost ready, I decide to change fuel with 25%, add .20mm shim into engine, reset fuel pin. Drop the car into track see IF it works. Suddenly, the clutch problem gone...

So the solution is: replace 10% fuel with 25% fuel.

I don't know how it could happen like this. The RPM is about the same, but with 10% fuel the clutch dis-engage all the time. However, with 25% fuel it work perfectly (a little bit too loose, gonna loose the spring next time). The only possible explanation I can find is using 25% fuel let engine do more torque under same RPM, keep the clutch engage correctly.

Now the clutch problem fix. New problem is: I break my front damper during a minor crash (very slow speed). S710 is much more fragile than I thought. Even super-harden bumper can't save my damper in minor crash. Both top and lower joint-cup are gone (thank god the damper rod still good)

I guess added 1mm shim in lower damper joint-ball is not enough to freeup front damper to avoid damage during crash. Seems I need to do upper joint-cup cutting suggested here (http://www.daltonshop.com/tips_tricks.htm) on my new damper.

ttso

I did the shock modification and it doesn't break as easily, so far so good.

I'm surprised that you are still racing when still in college. I had to stop to go to school.

That ring really worked, today was the first race with foam and touring. After nearly of not driving touring full-time, it felt like I was lugging around a fat lady!

Anyway, built a completely stock 710 to go with the touring, slapped on an old OS 5TR and had some fun!

Your sig shows some serious equipment so you can drive well ... in that case, no comtemplation required, get the 710, set up as stock and use the provided set of foams for some serious fun and racing!

You've seen the upper... here's the lower.

Does anyone know if this will fit my 705 too? That way I can get rid of the cut down impact lower bumper.
I'm not getting one for my 710 since I only use TC bodies on it.

It should fit in the 705 chasis too because the three screws to the chassis are in the same position. You may beed to change screws though ...

Looks like the 710 one used M3 screws with a locknut just like the regular 710 bumper and not the 3,5mm selftapping screws like the Impact.
I prefer to use aluminum on my 705 there anyway. That way in a big frontal hit, the screws will bend or break before my precious 4mm chassis bends... ;)

Agree with you there Kevin.

I drive electric well. Nitro is a whole new animal. I had the 705 for a short while until electric races started taking over. I'm seriously contemplating the 710 once I move.
