Just watch you don't drop the chassis spacers (you'll see what I mean) I use a little grease to hold them in place.
And get some 3x6mm bearings for the rear upper swing arms.

I found the car a little strange to drive with foam tyres, but it wasn't until I switched back to rubber that I found the reason, the RR conversion gives more front end grip.
Downside - it takes a lot longer to work on the car as the front gearbox bolts now have to be removed (can't with them all)

They give you more steering and improve the responsiveness. The car isn't so lazy with the RRR hubs.

That's pretty heavy dude! On the Kyosho catalogue its listed as 1780g without bodyshell and transponder.

I have reduced mine to 1635g recently. However, I noticed reducing "rotational mass" is more beneficial in terms of performance. Try 1) Kfactory lightweight pinions 2)Five Star aluminium center shaft and 2 speed holder 3) kyosho lightened clutch bell. To reduce the weight dramatically, try using AAA batteries, save about 30+ grams. RR conversion kit another 18grams.

Rgds

That's pretty heavy already without shell and transponder. A light bodyshell would be around 100 grams or so. PT would be about 25 grams. If buboy28's car is weighted at race ready condition, what he mentioned should be about right...

If you want to make the car race ready at around 1725 grams, the car should weight about 1600 grams without shell, without fuel and without PT.

So you did all those things to save 145 grams?

Hi!

My FW-05S with RR-Conversion (therefore I call it "FW-05RS") weights 1712 grams including RC-components, personal transponder (by the way, it weights only 8 grams - the akku-driven transponder weights 25 grams) but without body-shell and wothout fuel. My "Opel/Vauxhall-Astra"-body is another 103 grams.

=> Race-Ready without fuel: 1815 grams.

I am using five AAA-batteries, a small receiver (JR 310), rear carbon shock stay and the conversion. The R-Shocks and R-fueltank should increase weight on the other side.

Asking some V-One-Drivers i got about 80 grams penalty for the FW-05S. I will probably go for the Ti-Pillow-Balls and Ti-Screws to reduce weigth by about 40 grams.

Btw: Any suggestions where to get Ti-Screws one-by-one or a complete kit for the FW-05? Can't find a complete kit and i don't like to get it in packs of 10 from 7 different brands.

Any idea why Kyosho does not issue a tank that "goes around" or at least under the main cardan-shaft in front? The FW-04 had one (Part-No FW-77) but it has 100ml capacity.

Regards
Robert

Perhaps you could stuff in some kind of insert inside the tank and measure so that you get 75 ml?

For me ..it's quit expensive to put FW05R into diet. As I posted on page 117, the weight is quit ok but still a target to reduce to 1725 race ready is really headache!! Go for extreme, my shimo chasis is on its way from Japan . We will see than how much weight reduction that expensive toy will give me.!!

Much annoying for me to watch others glued some coins on their kit because of underweight!! Is't D??? :
