Mainly eXtended durability. I did a comparison of brand new blockades in M3 and x3 and felt no performance change but the X still look new after two full race days running the same set for practice, 6 min quals and 30 min main

Hmm, now I gotta go make sure I have M3s vice X3s.
Edit: Yep, M3s. I ran M2s last week and they did very well in the same temps (as expected). I'll probably grab a set of each along with the Gridiron IIs.

I don't buy M or AKAs (except catapults) because the X is such a better value. M2 is medium, you usually use medium compound?

Hey guys, a little off topic but few things I have noticed and heard regarding the X vs M proline compound. You always want to choose a hardness based upon temp (i.e. 4,3,2). Then you want to choose M vs X based upon moisture in the track. M is primarily used for wet surfaces and X is for dry. Also X is slightly harder than M at the given compound. I have also heard X doesn't expand as much as M which might provide more stability at high RPM .

Seems your track is friendly to tires, our local track chews everything in just one race day - Pl's X compound, AKA's mediums...

m compound for moist surfaces or a surface that hasn't developed a groove
and X compound for dry groeved track.
typically use M3 in the beginning of the day and then x4/x3 in the middle of the day then back to m3 later in the day.

It should, see post 2141
I didnt have to make many changes at all, it just worked great at Revelation. I havent run it at another track yet but I think you've nailed the baseline setup for outdoor tracks.

Oh, found an image of the Proline compound chart and X is listed as a high speed compound and the temp range is quite a bit different than the M compounds. Revelation has a nice groove but it is far from a high speed track with all the 180° turns and short jumps. M2 would have been the way to go yesterday but my only set were decimated during engine break in on the street
