What kind of runtime do you guys get with the Pro28 and the AE pipe?

Wild Cherry 01-25-2009 09:35 AM

Wes , I have some experience with the Ae .28 when I raced my MGT.

Its a fantastic motor .

Maybe not the fastest but its smoothness, power band and mileage are better than most ...
If extra speed is a issue , just gear it up a tooth or two ...

Advise you to stick with it , I don`t think another motor will improve the performance as you have the best motor already...

I was just curious what kind of runtime people are getting...with a OS 2060 pipe I am getting 7 minutes. Think I will give the AE pipe a whirl next time. I could just try it but it's sometimes easier to ask. I like the engine quite a bit, enough that I just bought another one.

I'm not aware of any plans for AE to release a Monster Energy SC8, but you never know! I ordered some custom decals to do mine, mostly to have a unique ride... The inspiration was from the real Monster Energy Hummer used to compete in the Dakkar Rally...

I called them to inquire if they were going to be releasing a Greaves/Monster Energy SC8 and was told that there are no plans to do so at this time. Ordered the Pro Comp version instead and want to do a custom Mountain Dew body for it considering I drink enough they should sponsor me.

Im having a greaves truck painted. I dont really know how it will turn out though. The hardest part will be having a decal made to match the patawatomi logo. Im hoping it ends up looking good - ill post pics

hey i was wondering what tires go on the front and ones ones go on the back... im guessing the ones that have a little spike on the edges go on the front?

ruggydriver 01-28-2009 07:54 PM

I am pretty sure that Traxxas has a licensing agreement with Monster. But the old school Mountain Dew body would be cool. They did display one at a Hobby Show I beleive.

It doesn't matter what body you run though you will have the most fun and be smiling the whole time you are on the track, just because they look so real. Especially when you are banging door to door with others.

My tires are the same all the way around...but if you have a pair that aren't like the other, put one up front and one in the rear, doubt it matters which..

They are the same tires front and rear. There may be a little mold flashing on some, but it doesn't matter front to rear or side to side. If you have a pic it might be easier to explain.

Hi guys, Im gonna be doing a brushless conversion to an Sc8. I realize I have to buy the full nitro conversion and someones E conversion. Few questions.
Do you guys just e bay all the new nitro stuff after the conversion? Obviously allot of parts are a waste if going brushless.
Second is what do you guys do for brakes? Do you run motor brakes or somehow still use the nitro brakes? Thanks so much for the help

The electric threads are probably a better place to ask this question as most of the people in this thread use the nitro engine.

Yes you can just e-bay the extra stuff you won't need or you can just bring it to your local track to sell.

Motor brakes/ mechanical brakes is a matter of preference. Check out this kit for every option: http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info...oducts_id=3639

And Associated makes their own conversion kit, but it only allows you the motor brakes option.

I'll add a few cents...

Like already said, you can eBay the stuff. Basically; good luck with that. Since your not the only one doing this there has been a real flood of these engines on the market. I bought one setup for $100, I just bought another entire setup, Prostart, complete engine, tank, all of the stuff removed to the the conversion for $125....so you're basically going to get hosed.

I also like the mechanical brakes best....but it's the least convenient of the conversions. The ability to have front/rear brake bias is real nice, especially with something that doesn't steer as well like this truck...so something to consider.
