AE makes the only body for the SC8....The HPI Apache SC body fits it as well....as far as a realistic looking Trophy Truck, HPI makes a great looking Mini Trophy Truck.

Try this thread: http://www.rctech.net/forum/nitro-of...ack-plate.html

This is the one I purchased for a Thunder Tiger Engine: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAPGW

I ended up reusing the O-Ring gasket since the new Back Plate didn't include one - no issue.

Works like a champ!

When you remove the existing RotoStart back plate, you will note how much friction the bushing design has on that component by itself... You will need to mill a portion of the Crank with a roto tool (Dremmel) of choice before installing the new back plate. This is a requirement and irreversible without replacing the crank down the road - not that I'd look back, lol.

What we both don't want or like: http://www.rctech.net/forum/members/...tarter-box.jpg

The Fix:

Note the RC8.2 components in my photos... Yeah baby!

You are not crazy for doing this... I like the nitro and until this past few weeks, had only nitros. I recently converted a spare RC8.2n to an RC8.2e for giggles and grins. My SC8n was bought as New Old Stock (never run) so it was already a nitro. However, I upgraded it to the SC8.2n with all FT .2 components including suspension, anti-sway bars, arms, and so forth - pretty sweet when you think of the possibilities that are available to customize the AE products with components of similar RX8.2 FT Buggy and RC8T CE Truggy builds. Let's face it, the SC8 kits are sort of a hybrid mif of the Truggy and Buggy kits with the exception of the towers, SCT Tires/Wheels, body mounts, and cage components.

If you are serious, I'd consider a swap out deal and trade you the Nitro components for your eConversion components so we both are good. From what I have seen, I'm considering making another eConversion ride with more spare components.

PM me if interested.

Has anybody ever managed to get a 2-speed into an SC8? Sort of a GT conversion...

I generally use mine as a break-in platform for my race .21's, sans body and cage, but I'm wondering what kind of engine to get just for it.. Thinking a .25 or .28 - thought the best .25's (NR Roma and OS 25XZ) are too pricey for a mess-around car like this.. I don't completely trust the air-flow under the body for an expensive engine(and I have tons of holes drilled all over mine..) Maybe a Picco Boost? Anybody have a big-shot engine in their SC8? Would like to see some video..

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but here is 2 videos of the same race from different camera angles a few years back. The Red, Silver and black truck has an RB .28 in it, the rest except me(red, blue and silver) are running the ready to run motors with the kits. Mine is the same thunder tiger .28 motor, without the roto-start and the better carb that came with the thunder tiger version. I won the race on fuel mileage--I crossed the finish line and ran out after the next corner, lol!! You can check out some of my older videos on youtube for some other videos of the SC8's in action also--

If things goes as I plan, I should have some video from this weekend running mine with an O.S. .28 at a race in Omaha. That thing is a beast and a blast to run!!

A vid with that OS 28 is what I'd like to see.. ;)

t3gt 01-11-2014 12:01 PM

Awesome….Can't wait to see it Phil!

farmerphil22 01-11-2014 02:44 PM

You can watch on liveRC also if the live feed is working, Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha. Look for the SC8 in with the truggies. I believe the races start at noon.

Well, I could have done better but considering the track time I had compared to some of the others, not bad. I was the fastest of my B group in the 2nd qualifier. The O.S. is a rocket!!

I lost screws out of the motor mounts which put me out of the B half way through. My fault, I should have went in and replaced the clutch bell bearings anyway before the mains and that probably wouldn't have happened, lol. I was back up to the 3rd spot when it went down, that's where I qualified.

I an in the process of uploading the videos from the day, my slow internet it takes a while--I do have the 1st round qualifier uploaded--

http://youtu.be/E_Goox61Es8

took about a minute or two to get comfortable with the tire change I made but after that, not too bad--

I will get the rest uploaded over the next week, here's a link to the playlist, so check back for the others--
