Hey Pat, not going to Omaha this weekend now with the crappy weather coming Sunday morning and Tony doesn't have my bodies done, but will go the 24th instead. You need to bring your stuff out of hibernation and show up also--

Bump. Any help with advice a a BCE chassis on the SC* would be great

khofman 06-05-2013 08:40 AM

Recently bought a used SC8 nitro off the bay. It's still stock (for the moment) & previous owner always used Losi 20% nitro. I got new OS#8 glow plug but undecided on which type of gas to use - LHS only stocks Traxxas Top Fuel 20% or Byron's Originals Race 3000 30%. Before I spring for a gallon of either & tune, just wanted to see what you guys thought. (Esp since this is my first nitro, fell in love w/ my sc8.2e so couldn't resist getting a nitro version)

I've always heard that Traxxas fuel is really bad..

Same here, that's why I ask about the Byrons 30% w/ OS#8 glowplug in the stock .28. Won't be racing just bashing around

Herrsavage 06-06-2013 10:06 PM

Byron's is meant to be good fuel. The only thing about %30 fuel is that you might have to alter the head shimming on the engine. I only ever run %25 so have never had to do that.

pdmustgt 06-06-2013 11:30 PM

Most big blocks are design to run 30% but they tell people to 20% as safety net especially for new people.

Herrsavage 06-06-2013 11:34 PM

Head shimming is something I've never messed with, but I have often read about having to change it if you want to run %30. Or in any event it might be more sensitive. I don't think it's correct to say engines come shimmed for %30, but I could be wrong. It might not make a big difference. I don't know. But I know over the years I've seen people talk about it a lot.

Signing in and providing the ever-so obligatory photos of my new SC8 KMC Edition Short Course Truck. I upgraded it to .2 since I had the parts available.

It's a shame they aren't running these at the local track. However, with my FT RC8.2 Nitro Buggy and RC8T CE Truggy, I'm all set at the track. The SC8 was simply too good of a deal to pass on and since the foundation of the SC8 is basically a cross between the Buggy and Truggy, it was a no-brainer.

Thanks for the props.

You are correct, Sir. These are very sweet indeed. I particularly like the majority of the components being shared with the RC8/RC8.2 Buggy and RC8T Truggy - which makes for more ease in obtaining parts down the road.
