Hey everyone I just ordered 2 sc8's for myself and my son been wanting these for about a year now, finally got the wife to say ok . I am trying to get a class started over here in washington any helpful suggetions? Everyone seems to be stuck on the 1/10th electric version we have 4 classes at our track for these little guys so I figured why not try and get the big ones out there. Any helpful tips of what needs to be changed right away would help also, already have 2 cre nova 28's for them and werks pipes.

I'd get the Big Bore shocks, T-Bone front bumper, replace the throttle servo with a good one, and ditch the remote glow plug, cut a hole in the body right above the engine to use a long glow igniter.....probably get some DE RACING wheels and whatever SC tire that's best for your track and you're good to go!!.....Good Luck guys!!:D

I'd love to see some video of your SC8's with those Nova 28 engines.... ;)
I say just drop those engines in and go for it.. Step by step, yeah, what he said.. Big Bores and a couple good servos(ACE DS1015, Savox 1258's, Hitec 7955 all great..), maybe 5-5-5 in the diffs or so.. Long-shaft glow ignitor.. And if need be, buggy tires work too... |
hey guys so i dont really use my sc8 for racing, it is more of a basher but i would like to bring it to the track with me when i am there and would like to get tires/wheels for it that would hook up on a high-traction clay track. any suggestions?

Thinking about getting an SC8 just to buzz around the neighbourhood with. I was between a $500 kit buugy or truggy and dumping my gear into it, or a RTR and then I remembered the SC8. Any quick comments to support this decision or any parts I need to order with this off the bat I'll appreciate guys. Thanks.

If you don't want buggy tires, I would get the cheapest SC8 stock tires I could find. They seem decent on most surfaces... |

I think it's good to go right out of the box to be honest. Over time, I would look at better servos and Big Bore shocks as the first priorities(in that order..) Hitec 7955's or the cheaper Tower twin of it, or ACE DS1015's, or Savox 1258's - something along those lines.. I have a Hitec 5955 and it's lasted forever and is simply great.. I also think the SC8 goes better with most any engine with a 17T clutch-bell. I never ran my stock engine but have run mostly 21's, and I'm pretty sure it's faster as a result. I think the stock .28 makes the truck more of a drifter.. Hell, you could probably even try an 18T CB with the stock engine for more top speed.. If you're serious about an SC8 too, and know your way around a hobby shop, I would look for some kind of epoxy or something to try to reinforce the body. Because it's so big and rattles so much on the cage, it tends to crack really easily.. Just a minor thing, but worth it to make your body last longer. Generally, there are TONS of parts for it all over the place. It takes RC8/RC8B diffs and spur-gear and arms and driveshafts(truggy in the middle), buggy tank, etc.. You could for ex. get the blue hard ano top plate from the RC8B.. Etc etc... If you end up jumping a lot, those T-bone bumpers are probably a good idea. The stock ones give after a while. |
Right on, I think i'll seriously consider the Black KMC Edition. The Truck looks deadly, I miss Nitro so I think I need to make this happen. Thanks!

Oh Yeah!....The stock engine is pretty decent, LOTS of torque, but not as good as a racing .21 on the top end....So I'm going up to a 17T CB to add some top speed for the track....and I've also found that upgrading the fiber clutch shoes to the FT hardened aluminum shoes really gives it that good snap to make it perform more like a race engine....I love it...plus I have the FT 2035 pipe on it (I got the pipe/manifold for FREE from AE when they were promoting the SC8 back in Feb 2009!!:D)....So I'm pretty pleased with this engine so far, I'll run this til it's gone then put a .21 in after.......
I believe that the SC8 tank is the RC8T tank....The tank, chassis, center shafts & side guards are from the RC8T, everything else is from the RC8/RC8B....You may upgrade just about anything you want because it shares those parts...:D And buggy wheels will work fine on the SC8, and I had some on mine, but if you want the SC wheel look, you can get the DE RACING TRINIDAD wheels for the SC8, they fit ANY 10th scale SC tire out there....I have 2 sets, one for some PL Trenchers for having fun, and the other for the race track with AKA Citiblocks on them...:D:D |
I like the stock KMC wheels so much I put them on my buggy, I haven't tried it yet.... they're ok for out on the street and a gravel lot aren't they? Wheres the best place to buy the SC8, I haven't seen a good used deal so I'm just going to order a new one. Will I be able to use my buggy box starter on this?

I would get whichever tires you would run on a buggy for that track.

I've always used a starterbox with my SC8, and yes, again what he said, get a long-shaft ignitor. I got the Hot Shot one too, but I have another more traditional style one that works too. Really a MUST IMO. I was using shorter ones initially, but it really is a pain to have to take the cage and body off every time you start. So yeah, get a long ignitor or the long Hot Shot and you're good..
Yes, you can use the same starterbox, but the pegs will have to be adjusted because the SC8 chassis is longer than a buggy's.. As for SC tires and wheels, no clue there really I'm afraid. SC's aren't that big here, so I don't even think they sell them here.. |
