I did a quick search but I did not see anything. I just recently was lent a TA05 for a while. I want to use foam on carpet. Any setup starting points?

Just a quick question, What will be better for running Stock, A Front One-Way or a Spool? Im running a 13.5 on a Tight, medium-low grip, ashpalt track.

I kind or think it comes down to what kind of driver you are.

If you're a "dive for the corners, brake and hit the gas", then a diff or spool are for you...if you're a "roll through the corners at part throttle" guy, then a one-way is probably your best call.

Hi,
One-way is faster than spool or diff-diff when you ride with a weak motor, like 13.5.
I tried the spool with 23T motor last race, but it was definitely slower than the front one-way.

Use a spool for a technical track, one way for flowing tracks and for foams use a diff.

For those wondering about setup on carpet with foams....

I have raced a stock TA05 and a TA05 with a few hopups on foam. The setup I start with is as follows.

Bone Stock TA05 setup
Camber at 2 degrees all the way around.
1 degree toe in front and back
Blue front springs(tamiya)
Yellow rear springs(tamiya)
45 Weight shock oil - 2 hole pistons
26mm 40 shore front tires
28mm 40 shore rear tires - sidewall CA glued
No spacers in the stock shocks
Droop is somewhere around 6/4 to start
Shocks standing straight up in the rear, two holes in on the front

That's about it. For my other TA05 the only changes are as follows
Front one way
Center one way
Tamiya alluminum shocks
Associated white front springs
Associated brass rear springs
Ride height 5mm
Camber at 1.5 in the front
Rear shocks one hole in from straight up.
Parma 28mm Double pink/Orange on front
Parma 28mm Double purple on rear.

Hope that gives you something to start with. I'm going to a practise day this weekend so maybe try out a few other things to see how they work.

Thank you guys. I will upload my setup (carpet/rubber) as soon as I get the editable setup sheet. I hope you will love it, but I think the most drivers goes with foam in US.

Well i have up a spool seperate using losi spool pads so if i want to switch to the Spool i can swap them straight over.

Also i would like to loose 100grams of weight. What would be my best bet? Im planning on getting a graphite battery strap and maybe a graphite bumper brace. Im thinking some alloy screws to loose some weight? I have some screws from a TC4 (i think) and they seem to be a bit thinner than the stock TA05 ones but they are also a bit longer and they screw in alot easier. Would it be ok to use these? Should i just place a bit of locite on them?

Of course those TC4 screws go in easier because their diameter is smaller. They're 2.8mm whereas the TA05 screws are 3mm. Can we say strip the hole and pull out. Loctite would only help where metal screws screw into metal holes. Loctite may even cause some plastic to crack and fall apart (from experience with a Tamiya M02 chassis and an alloy servo post, the chassis split during a race all because some loctite oozed out of the screw hole on the servo post corupting the chassis plastic).

Want to save weight? Use a smaller servo, Rx, lighter wheels, alloy turnbuckles, plastic outdrives, alloy axles. However you'll find that the plastic parts weigh less than alloy parts. Use alloy screws only in low strss areas or else they will strip or break.
