kimbrough - not sure what models are available, but i picked up a kimbrough 112t (64 pitch equivelant to the stock spur). the spur is a bit wider, which were it not for the molded tooth count on the edge of the spur, would not have been a problem. as it is, the spur hits the motor mount.

rw - i believe the spur i'm holding in my hand is an rw. it is 114t 64p and feels like it was machined instead of molded (all sharp edges). again, i'm not sure if they have different models, but this particular spur is setup with 8 'inner' holes, meaning the 3-hole fk05 mount does not fit. the spur itself has a 114 cut into the side with what looks like a felt pen to highlight the numbers.

prs - read nothing but good things about these. could not find anyone carrying them (local, stormer, tower, etc). went to their web site and ordered a couple last night. make sure to get the 'pro lite touring' version, as these have the 6-hole configuration that fits the fk05. i do not know if their other product lines do.

last but not least, searching through this thread, it looks like most people are putting the biggest spur they can on the car. i think the magic number is 116 in 64P pitch and 87 in 48P.

hope this helps

also, regarding prs. i have checked their site a few times in the past year, they always are out of stock on several popular sizes of gears and do not offer 'bulk assortments' for those of us looking for it all. anyone that knows someone at prs might want to reccommend fixing this.

rw now offers a 6 hole spur gear that fits perfect on the fk05 which i have on my ride right now and have had no problems running it. i have also ran a 7x1 with this spur gear not one lick of trouble. i run the 118t 64p. i have also ran the prs gear with the same result as the rw gear no problems just that prs is more expensive.

I have the PRS 120 tooth but I run the 3.0 carpet chassis and I beveled the chassis so the spur doesn't hit. It's just a tiny, tiny bit.

aaaaa hummm you must be running a 04 oh yeah there in your signature it says fk04 cant run a 128 in a 05. it would be like a 5th wheel ( of course you would have to grind the heck outta the chassie )

Default extra traction?

howard, your post got me thinking. a 128 on carpet might be a factory team secret. think of the extra traction you'd get with the spur chewing into the carpet for traction ~

o ya man thats why my car won stock class. my car was a lap faster than everyone elses car, mine 25laps other people 24laps. and they were all fk05s except maybe 1or2. all that extra traction from the spur has my car on rails maybe you should try it. to bad it wasnt me racing it, it was a friend LOL.

Do you have to do any mods to fit the 120 spur to the 05? If any, what mods are required?
Also where can I get this spur from?
Thanks

If you don't run the 3.0 carpet chassis the 120 sticks out the bottom a little. With the carpet chassis it just sits flush with the bottom, but I did file the chassis a little under the spur just like you would battery slots. I bought my PRS gears from a local hobby shop. I think KTHOBBIES.COM has them in stock for online purchase though.

i have an 87 on at the moment because i got a stone stock under my kit spur when coming out of a slow hairpin and went to accelerate and the pinion moved but the spur didnt . And i need an 84 on to get proper gearing for 19t because the biggest pinoin i can safely get on with the correct mesh is a 26 giving me an overall of 5.69 whereas id like to be running 5.28 which is a 28 pinion but it doesnt fit. So ima needin a smaller spur but have already scrood 2 of the 84's
