What Windsorguy99 means is the rear hubs that hold the bearings, outdrive, and drive shaft together are install backwards. It a common mistake people make when building their first XRAY.

After 5 years out of the hobby i'm proud to say i now own an xray fk05

Very impressed with how the kit goes together. The manual is very easy to read and follow. There are just afew questions i wanted to ask.

1) When building the Multi-Diff. The manual says something along the lines of "Apply some one-way lube" Is this a product you have to buy spereatly? Can you use the normal grease that comes with the kit?

2) When building the shocks how do you get the clips that screw onto the bottom of the shock rod and clip onto the chassie on? I tried pre threading it with a screw but i can only get it half way on. I don't want to use plyers incase i scratch the shock rod. I also tried holding the shock rod on the top of the tread like they do in the manual but i carn't seem to get it on right.

Any help would be welcomed.

I don't use a multi-diff so I can't help you with the first one.

I'm not sure what you mean by clips. There is a ball end that snaps into the shock end, which in turn threads onto the screw in the arm....If you're having trouble getting the ball to snap in, I believe there is one way that it will snap in and one way that it won't - one side of the shock end is larger than the other.

Rogue makes an awesome aluminum shock plier. It doesnt mark up the shaft. To install the ball ends I put just alittle grease on the threads of the shaft. It made it alittle easier. You still have to put alot of muscle on the plier because the shaft fits tight into the ball end but it helps.

Xray makes a one-way lube...not sure what's special about it...or what the material properties are but....here's the link...

I've never had to use it on my Xrays (not running a one-way anymore)...but it HAS saved me a lot of grief with my MT's!!!

Gizmo, the tight ball cups are a mystery to all Xray builders. Use some old side cut wire cutters to clamp down on the threaded area of the shaft. Make sure it's the closest thread to the smoother part of the shaft. If you can get a hold of a 3mm tapping tool, that helps a lot. Don't tap the whole depth of the ball cup otherwise it'll be toooo loose on the shaft. Hope this makes sense.

and whatever you do, don't put them on too far, or you'll pinch the ball end and your suspension may bind a bit....

When I first tried to thread the shock ends on, I had a problem too. So what I ended up doing was not installing the piston like the instructions said. I installed the e-clip that goes below the shock piston and then stuck the shaft through the bottom and buit the seal. I was then able to grab the shock shaft through the top of the shock where the shaft is flat. It made it worlds eaiser for me. Hope this helps.

I pre threaded the clips with a screw from the kit, then put a drop of oil on the shock rod threads before putting them together.
I also used a good set of needle nose plyers to hold the shock rod.(only use the smooth part of the plyers, and squeese hard enough not to let the shock shaft rotate in the plyers. This will help not to scratch the shock shaft. )Worked like a charm for me.
