I will be racing at snowbirds. Do you have any advice for my tc4? Will you be available next weekend if I have trouble with my car?

I just got a job that's next door to an always vacant, large and very nicely paved parking lot.

I'd like a good on-road car that I can take over there after work and have fun with. I'd also like this same car, if possible, to be changed over and setup for two purposes: drifting and racing - nothing serious, just for having fun.

Now, here come the stupid questions:

#1 - would it be possible to setup this car to do both drifting and on-road handling? I know I'd have to have different tires - what else?

#2 - It seems like a one-way front diff and locked rear would be good choices for drifting but can the shaft-driven TC4 be modified this way?

#3 - Could I use just one brushless motor & ESC for both drifting and road racing?

#4 - I have a boatload of 2200 mAh 3S lipos - could I use these with a brushless setup?

Thank you

Red Sand, you can get a tc4 club racer with a 3s capable tekin RS esc and a 17.5t tekin gen 1 motor.... All you'll need to do is tighten the tc4 rear diff when drifting, and loosen it when Racing !
You can't get belt cars in this case because of the peebles....

Default TC4 Pinion

What is the largest pinion that can be installed in the TC4 Club Racer. To get the gear ratio needed for 21.5 VTA (Australia) I need to get to below 3:1.

Because in the internal drive ratio is 2.5:1, 48 pitch cant get low enough and I have to resort to 64 pitch. Looks like I will need a 58T 64P pinion and a 76T spur (may need to go lower).

Has anyone been able to fit a 58T pinion? BTW, I am aware that I will need to grind away part of the chassis as shown in the manual.

Thanks

Robinson makes 48 pitch pinions up to 47T (only in odd numbers) and spurs as small as 49T, so you can get below 3.0:1 with them (down to 2.61). Below 3.0 sound a bit extreme to me, unless your track is huge.

Holy cow! I run a 76T 64P Spur and I mainly use my 47T, 49T or 51T pinions. Maybe a 53T for really tight tracks. But a 58?

The track I race at, depending on 21.5 motor choice, gearing is between 2.8 & 3.5.
