Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the evo 3 and evo 4 one way ring gears. I would like to use the evo4 alloy one in my evo3.

Cheers
Terry

BigTez/Terry, I'm like 99.985236% certain that the gears are the same. I've got the Evo III delrin outdrives in my Evo IV so things seem to be the same as far as most of the drivetrain.

The outdrives are the same from TB02/EvoIII/EvoIV.. but I don't think the ring/diff gear is the same. The internal ratio on the EvoIII is 2.6.... the internal on the EvoIV is 2.294. However, this might be a change in the crown/pinion gear instead of the ring/diff gear. I'm not sure on this....

The Ring gear and the bevel pinion gear of EVO4 is different from EVO4.

intresting !!
so what does the evo 3 use then

I believe the ring gear is the same. I know a friend with an EVO III running the aluminum EVO IV one-way gear.

Having just picked up an EVO IV myself, I have both EVO III and EVO IV ring gears I can compare.

Colin,
As you know , I have (Jason) a hugely hopped up evo 3 & a hugely hopped up evo 4......The diff gears have the same amount of teeth , they are slightly slimmer in thickness and require a different amount of shim spacers. the crown gears have different amount of teeth thus changing the ratio.
Hope this helps....
ps. You cant use the crown gear of the evo 3 on the evo 4 before you ask :)

I killed my car in a crash in the Mod Class...I bent the A1 Block and the Stearing Arms...along with some diff gears broke, and the turnbickles and arm...OUCH

I used the EVO4 alloy oneway Gear in my evo 3. It was the only way to stop the gears stripping. Use in conjunction with the lightweight driveshaft.

I'm very happy to share my experience about my Evo3 stop the gears stripping, just only used Evo4 plastic one way gear and the TB02r light weight shaft, but you need shim a 0.1mm thick spacer to the bevel pinion gear and three 0.1mm spacer to the one-way, two 0.1mm shim to near the one-way side to push the gear close to the bevel gear, and shim the 0.1mm to the other side, after the shimming I have running about 10 times with some big crash is no stripping anymore.

The suspension holders on the Evo 4 MS are 1mm lower than the standard Evo 4, so you have to build using 1mm shims leaving them easy to bend in a crash.

I checked the FRONT suspension holders on my Evo 4 MS and they are the same spacing between the holes as the standard ones, so I assume it's okay to use the standard Evo holders on the MS, however, the rear ones are wider spaced, anyone know if I can use standard Evo 4 rear holders without compromising the geometry?
