To smooth the tape slots and other narrow areas or the whole car you can use strips of sandpaper. Clamp the carbon piece to a bench and sand the edges holding the ends of the strip of sand paper using tension to press against the edge you are smoothing.
Remember that the dust from the sanding is nasty - try not to breath it etc.
I used wet water proof sandpaper on the last chassis I sanded and that seemed to keep the dust down, but was a bit messy and left dust on the chassis.

Too much ca can cause fogging around the glue, it can be cleaned off though.

It looks better if you take your time and don't ca it to the table or your hand... :D

I sanded all mine with 400 and 800 grade wet and dry, and the dust got EVERYWHERE, but i got a nice finish ;) As for sealing it, i used thin super glue and Q-Tips, just put drops onto the Q-tip until it looked saturated, 2-3 drops was ok for me, and then ran it around the edge of the chassis, could do most of a side until it had dried too much, so just chuck that Q-tip and use another.

Lol, This is already much different than Nitro...Anyone got an close up pics of their chassis with this process done?

tamiya spool drive cups
 

is there a part number for just the plastic drive cups used for the Tamiya Spool? I broke one of the cups a few weeks back and would like to get some spares

Yeah, it's called buying a whole new spool!! haha. Sucks!! I wish they would come out with just the drive cups too. I have 4 EvoIV spools!!! I'm sure though they will come out with them eventually. Post up if anyone knows anything about this...

The MS version is really nice. Almost has me thinking of another touring car. Still seems like everyone is going to belts again and even the Tamiya team is running the belt car. The EVO IV is a sweet ride.

Friend of mine just told me about this awesome thread!

I've got a an Evo 4 MS and I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with the following:
1. I'm running the Tamiya spool kit and I'm just wondering if there is an after market spool that I can get with metal outdrives. I broke two already during one race meet. Both were on the right side. Alternatively, are metal outdrives for the Tamiya spool available?
2. Are front aluminuim hubs available for this car? I know that Square makes aluminium hub carriers but I'm not sure if they make aluminium hubs for the front.

Speedtech do a good solid spool that ive used in stock and i have had no issues at all with it, used it for 19T at the weekend and hit stuff occasionally and didnt break anything.

I recall hearing that Speedtech discontinued the Evo IV spool once they sold out the 2nd time. If you cannot get one, drop me a PM and I'll sell you mine.

Belts are a headache...Shaft is much better, you don't have to worry about a dirty surface as much...
