Is a Jaco White rear tire for mod carpet , and would it be to "stuck " to run in stock ?

RCsilly(Bob): I have been using white rears in stock with good success. The new gray rears are harder than last year, plus it seemed to actually loosen up the car in the center of the turn. The white acts like it has less side bite. Gray will probably be the choice at Cleveland...small dia.

GTP03: A stiffer center spring takes bite away from the rear making the car turn better.

yobbism: Speedmerchant has Old Skool front ends available through their mail order.

ECHOLogic 11-19-2003 08:55 PM

Question????

Does anyone know the weight of there car minus all electronics? Just the rolling chassis...

lumberjak 11-19-2003 09:12 PM

snowplow push

I'm using .020 ft. springs now, so... I put .018 ft. springs in, change the center spring to the "red" one, dope most of the ft. tires, and go slower the car shouldn't push?

stormperson 11-20-2003 04:13 AM

no it shouldnt push. However, I dont know what your first center spring was...

429racer 11-20-2003 04:23 AM

Be aware that if you compound most of your front tire, it will start making it twitchier.

mcsquish 11-20-2003 04:27 AM

Thanks Mike D, I'll give that a try. Now for a silly question. The shims for front caster. Do they give you: 0 deg, 2 deg, 4 deg? Or is it: 2 deg, 4 deg, 6 deg? I have been told both. Thanks again

To be fast you must "free " the car up, if it is too "stuck " it will just want to stop / traction roll in the corners , and not roll thru ..... its a balancing act . but when you find a set up that fits your driving style , remember it !

XRaycer 11-20-2003 05:33 AM

mcsquish- i'm an old racer it used to be 0 degree shims and 2 degree shims for the older associated style front end. Parma used to sell a cool shim set for that front end hope this helps.:)I'm running a Quad 12 (12L conversion) and I've found that the newer style reactive castor works better overall just my .02:batman:

In many instances on a high bite track an .018 or even a .020 front spring will make the car feel like it's pushing at high speeds because the springs compress, then the front-end drops, and the car can't put sufficient pressure on the tire's contact patch. In those instances you spring up, and the car actually picks up high speed steering. It also makes the car less twitchy at low speeds. I'd try a Speedmerchant Black or CRC Copper spring, and .022's. I don't know what shock oil you're running but I'd try 70 or 80 wt. See if that helps.

Thanks 429Racer, and Bobby F.,

CypressMidWest,
70 or 80wt in the center cvs or the side dampeners? I've been using 30 that CRC recommends in the CVS and heavy Losi hyrda fluid in dampners.
