Hey Apex,

Thanks,

Could someone please answer my question, as to the advantages/disadvantages of running the servo flat as opposed to on the mounts? Stormperson, I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

mounting it flat will give more steering in tight corners, mounting it angled gives more high speed steering

I have a question regarding that...

Someone was telling me that putting the servo right on the chassis like that and making the links basically stick straight out causes a bump steer condition. Have any of you guys experienced that? I have run the servo both ways on the same car, and having it right on the chassis made it better all around, but is that because the CG is now lower or how the geometry changes on how the link pushes in more of a straight line instead of an angle to the steering block? Just wondering...

I run mine flat, and like it. And, you said it, Lower CG, and it changes the Steering Ackerman a bit.

better to have ittaped and bolted down if in can be.

MikeD's servo is also flat on his ride, if you go to page 115 of this thread he explains the advantage of running the servo flat!
here is his car:

=Misfitz-Nuke= and P2 - I was never much fer fancy book learnin'!

Rob Hochberg - I don't know what kind of car you use, but on my Trinity switchblade spashett I Shoe Goo'ed it to the Chassis and cut down a TC-3 servo mount and spaced it so it fit over one of the holes, just because I didn't trust shoe goo by itsself. It turns out I didn't need that though, and I sure tested its adhesion, I ran 1/12 mod with that car and crashed heavily a bunch of tiimes and the servo never popped loose.

steering servo

In airtronics,do you have to use a micro case 145? or can you use a 737 full size servo for the steering of a 12L3??:) THANKS
