IRS Axle Question

I am setting up my IRS large D ring axle. I am using a Kimborough spur gear. Is it normal for about 30% of the bearing to protrude from the D ring? What I'm saying here is that the O.D. of the D ring is like .750 and the major diameter of the bearing holes in the spur gear is like .812. It seems that a lot of crud could get in the bearings. Help me out here guys.

Thanks,
John

The balls in the spur should ride very close to the outside edge of the diff rings. Yes crud can get in there. I suggest cleaning the diff after every run. Takes about 10 minutes to tear it down, clean the parts and build it back up.

You can also get snap rings that will cover the diff balls. You'll see oval guys do this.

speedxl, Thank you for the info! I have just purchased the sx9 and two airtronics 94145 servos.
I run a v7.1 in my losi xxx-t MF and It has held up well. There are a few guy that I have talked to about the quantum but they had all fried them and were not happy.

in stock really good for 19t it feels like a mod. i have nothing but praise for the sx-9
it got me in the a main at the nats since then i even went to gm speed controlers in my sedans aswell. v12 wsc edition.
i put my lrp 7.1's in my box for spares
the gm's have more punch.
and your choice for servos the airtronics
9145 is perfect . its more than adecuit for the job.

Integy tire truer

Does anybody use this tire truer? I was wondering if this is a good truer. At $119.00 It is tempting. Any comments!!!

Stormperson, Thank you for the info, believe me I am taking it all in. before I know it I may end up with 2 or 3 cars?

Sands, I may try the KO, but for now I found good deal on 2 airtronics 94145 servos, Thank you for all the info. I am finding this forum a great asset.

grump- integy stuff normally doesnt last very long, so I would not exactly suggest it. I personally used the ofna automatic lathe and it was just over $200, and I couldnt be happier, it was defently worth the money.

Servo flat or angled?

What the advantage / disatvantage of either way.

I'd like to try an ascari body and that will require a flat servo (so it looks like).

any differences in steering response?

Thanks

xxxgrumpxxx: I'd like to know about the Integy Tire Truer also. It seems to me, that if its individual parts are "square", the motor shaft and arbor turn true, and the cutter feed is smooth it would make for a good truer.

Last year, I sold all of my R/C Equipment (thinking that I was getting out). Anyway, among the items I sold were my Hudy Tire truer (universal), and my Hudy motor lathe. They were both excellent examples of machinery.

Well, I just took a chance and bought an Integy Xipp X-Mod Super motor lathe, and it is every bit as good as the Hudy I owned if not better. It uses a secondary shaft to turn the armature rather than turning the armature with the motor shaft. This secondary arm eliminates the vibration caused by the motor shaft. I'm overjoyed that I bought this lathe even though I had not seen one in person. Best of all, it cost about $60 less than the Hudy, and the Hudy doesn't include a bit.

If you can, check out the Integy Tire Truer before buying one then let us know. If I can find one, I'll report back.

You can still use angled servo mounts with the Ascari body. The first batch of bodies did rub on the servo saver but they have added some height in the front end to ensure it fits without any problems.

By the way, does anyone have a brush/spring combo for a 19turn Chameleon 2 for my Rev 3?

Thanks

Bob
