I have some questions. New to 1/12th but not new to RC. I just picked up a CRC Bloody Knife. I'm still reading through this thread to help catch up but it's a long thread.

What is the handling differences between the Protoform Ascari and Parma Speed 8 bodies? Which is the recommended body for a short twisty track? Is there any other bodies that are considered better?
What is the starting tire diameter for racing for front and rear? And if my car is setup correctly how many weekends of racing should I expect to recieve from my tires.
What other front and rear tire compounds is good to have on hand (besides purples and grays) when racing stock on carpet?
When setting rear droop what is the easies way to measure it?
Is there any fluids besides Losi Hydra drive and/or 100wt shock oil that is commonly used in the dampening tubes?
What ride height do most people run their chassis at? I'm guessing 3mm since that is the ROAR min ride height rule.
Is the setups listed on CRC's website a good place to start?
Thanks! Jared Kirkwood |
I can help with the droop. Adjust your SHOCK LENGTH so it allows the rear of the pod .5 to 1mm lower than the front of the pod or main chasis. Next set your spring preload so it Just settles into its suspension. This will leave your pod and chasis level or a teeny bit lower in the center. The only thing to change from there are spring and shock oil. Changing one spring rate will make a huge difference. Try different ones out and see. I
I suggest getting both side and center spring kits from CRC. I only use white or red side springss. But change center springs for different tracks or conditions. Yes, The CRC steup from the site is almost the same as mine. I just run camber so the tires wear even. David Root |
Integy Tire truer
I had one and I am getting it back soon.... I don't car what anybody says this piece of equiptment is a BEAST!!! the motor is huge and has tons of torque!! When I got it I decided to see just what it had...... Took it out to my truck and connected it to the battery, (didn't wanna strain my P/S) and proceeded to cut a pair of CRC X-hard foams (50ish shore, hard as a brick!!) only I decided to take like 6-8mm off at a time... it barely bogged down and ripped right thru .......
The only downfall I see is that you need to do a little more manicuring with sandpaper, and there is no automatic feature like you can get with a huddy or Ofna.... but they both use little wiompy motors!!! Besides I am a control freak and would never let a machine take control over my equiptment..... |
Quad12 Set-up
Finally got all the parts to finish my Quad12. Looking for a good starting set-up for stock carpet. I'm running the dynamic front end, TRC purple/grey, Protoform Ascari and a Monster.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks |

I'd be interested to hear what others think on this also....
What other front and rear tire compounds is good to have on hand (besides purples and grays) when racing stock on carpet? A pair of white rear's might be nice to try out. only used purples on the front seem to be the best, but don't forget your traction compound.1/4th to 1/2 of the front's only.
Is there any fluids besides Losi Hydra drive and/or 100wt shock oil that is commonly used in the dampening tubes? Start with OFNA 7000 wt oil it's thicker than the 100wt shock oil, but the 10,000 might be too much. the 7000 is similar to Losi Light Hydra Fluid. https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...pl?pn=OFN10234 |
bobby z a good set up for a c2 19t for 12 scale is either e brushes or 767 for xtra ripp in some cases i have used 2 purples on tight tracks and purple on the pos post and green on the neg post for medium and bigger sized tracks.

Besides size difference 1/10 and 1/12
I am a little confused about 1/12 size cars.
1. Are 1/12 just slightly smaller versions of 1/10? 2. When I look at the RC Magazines and RC catalogs, I see almost entierly 1/10 cars with small asortment of 1/8 off road and minis. There does not seem to me to be very many 1/12 size cars or many 1/12 discussion or articles. but 3. when I look at Race Results I always see 1/12 class listed. It seems like a popular class to race but see very few cars or acesories for sale. |
imjonah you have look around in this forum you find a lot of web sites listed
there are as many if not more companies making 12 scale then sedan all the major players in touring car stared in 12 scale and actually still produce and sell them for a while they faded away and now they have made a strong return world wide, and growing . i race for a company called prc which makes conversion kits for the associated 12L3 which is still made, trinity makes a car aswell as irs rug rat , speed merchant, crc arpet knive, yokomo, reimen, kawada, spoon , corally , hpi, and various other companies they all make aftermarket parts for them everything and anything is availabel. look through all the previos posts here and you will find alot of stuff. the reason these cars look like 10 scale pancars is because 10 scale cars where built after the 12 scale and they made them bigger for out door racing 12 scale was here first and started around 1970 something and then around 1987 they made the bigger versions which is what a 10 scale pancar is. try 12thscale .com they have a few links and sponsors that will show the 12 scale world. |
Anybody remember the Parma EuroPanther? I still have mine. LOL, talk about vintage racing...
|
shoot i still own my delta super phasors and p-12 spyders and a 12i talk about old sckool!:weird:

There is 1/12 scale racing on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can look at the 1/12 scale cars in person. You'll love it. D.P. |
Best Thing I heard
I was at CRC in Rome NY practicing with my Carpet Knife. They said to me "If you can drive a 1/12, you can drive anything". I am still trying to master 1/12. Getting the hang of it and loving every minute of it.
I race off road gas and electric. Racing 1/12 has helped my off road driving a lot. David Root |
