Is there a better way to hold the batteries in a RC12L3 than using tape?
Jeff

IMO tape still holds the batteries the best...but that all depends...Ive seen the quad 12 and he has a very good design for the batt strap.

I have a quick question...I dont know if anyone on here runs a yok worlds car, but is it normal to have to shave down those fat black AE front body posts to mount an ascari? I had to shave mine to nubs:D  ...seriously I probably took off half the post. Just wondering....it was a pain in the...rear....to get those the right height...maybe im just cutting the body wrong..

bab00n14 - It's not you... the Ascari is just real low. My front body mounts are shorter then 1/2 inch with that body.

ok good....just making sure that was normal to hack off the post lol! thanks

If you could also send me info on the Quad12,I think you were also working on battery retainers for a carpet knife.

Thanks for your time

Gearing

Manfredo-
I've been running 12 quads and doubles and I'm gearing at 23/100 with 48mm tires. That translates to rollout between 34 and 35 (can't remember without my chart in front of me). This is on carpet with a reciever pack.

Small extra batteries

I've seen these on some of the factory racers' cars. They are realy tiny 5-cell pack which powers the ESC & servo. Anyone know if it is really worthwhile for stock, 19T or mod? Any instruction as to making our and its wiring? Thanks.

I've never had a battery life problem in stock with a decent set of 3000s. Running monsters with nothing special and a .75-.85 inch rollout. Charging the batts at 4 amps.

For us mortals, its not required.

For Mod, where you can have motor that will such that much power, it may help. I have no experience with that though.

Yes how is that coming? The battery retainers. Still working on getting the additional parts before I order the Quad12. I'd probably have the $ already, but I keep buying more stuff for my Yok.

Thanks Sands. I didn't think we need it for the stock class neither.

Are you sure about your roll-out of .75-.85 inches? I also run a monster stock in a CRC and my roll-out is around 1.7.

sands 11-05-2003 10:44 AM

All I can tell you is that is what the good guys run (some are sponsored) so that is what I run. The track is really tight. I may try to bump that up to see if I'm on the wrong side of the power band. There's a 2 day this weekend with lots of track time.

Rollouts for 1/12 Scale

What type of tracks are you running at where a .75 or .85 or 1.36 rollout will do the job? How long is the straight? I use in the mid 1.80's and only have 250 to 500 maHr left in the battery? The fast driver push their rollout's higher than mine(1.90 and higher)Our straight is about 110 ft.

sands 11-05-2003 10:46 AM

back straight is like 80-90 feet. Most of the track is hairpins, esses and slow transistions.

crc and speedmerchant...

i couldn't find it in previous posts...

What is the relationship between these 2 companies? I thought I read that at somepoint they were the same company and at some point split up...

The Speedmerchant Rev3 and the CRC Carpet Knife v3.1 seem very similar.
