i've slowly converted my old t1 to a factory car and man does it feel good. it hardly scrubs speed. along the way with the conversion, the car got quicker with more responce. i think both versions of c hub are good with the correct setup, but i found with my driving style the fk set up is a bit unstable. i still run the long arm set up and it seems to suit me. the biggest difference for me besides the weight reduction, was the low ratio pulleys. that freed up a lot of corner speed.

What is the best way to clean the bearings in the T1R? I know I need to take the shields off but what is the best cleaner to clean them with? I have an Ultrasonic jewelry cleaner but what should I put in it? Do I take both shields off or just one? I run on an outdoor asphault track that is pretty dirty during the week and dusty by the end of a race night.

Most common automotive or RC degreasers will do the trick. Heck, Dawn dishwashing liquid does well too, but make sure you dry well and oil, or you'll be refering to the rust [earlier] post.
A tooth brush and cotton swabs [Q-tips] works for me, but if you have the means to use something else, I can't imagine it will hurt it.

get some lysol tile, tub and basin cleaner for your jewelry cleaner.
option 2
buy the bearing blaster that RPM makes and use it to blast away dirt with the help of a buggy blast cleaner.

This is what I do: I take out the old bearings, then put in brand new bearings.
