Unfortunately the LHS only races stadium trucks, dirt modifieds and whatever else is raced on a dirt oval. :( The only person I have to worry about beating is my brother who just picked up his car on eBay also. lol... We'll be racing at a cul-de-sac when we get these things up and running...

Ok, I'm gonna open up the thing and clean out the diffs and the bearings. I just got a bunch of parts in from RCBOYZ.

Has anyone ever gone through the arduous task of reading all the messages in the TC3 forum and compiling a TC3 FAQ? It would be cool if we had a FAQ that addressed common questions regarding diffs, maintenance, springs, links to mods, etc... That would make it easier for noobs like me to get info and make life easier for the experts so they don't have to address the same questions over and over again.

Also, can you tell just by the color of the part if it is a team factory graphite part or a regular composite? The TC3 I bought is a team touring but from all the pics I've seen of the team factory, it seems to have the same color chassis. Thanks for the help...

YEAH that would be a TOP idea :D :D

As i`ve only just brought a TC3 too & when using "Dial-up" going through 326 + pages looking for info is NOT an option.:(

G`day ppl`s,

Has anyone used this "Steering Rack Cover" [part # 3857], is it worth while getting one over doing the NTC3 mod.

Cheers

I tried looking up that part and something else popped up. Anyway, somewhere along my bordom and search for TC3 knowledge, I came across a link here in this forum that leads you to pdf file from the team associated website that shows you how to make a cover for the steering rack out of lexan. Sorry, I don't have the link.

Getting back to my point before, we should get together and make a FAQ that has useful links and info...

TC3 Maintenance

Ok, the TC3 I just picked up from eBay is totally apart. The bearings and gears are soaking in WD-40. Before I put it all together again, are there any special changes I should do other than what is shown in the manual? Extra shims I should put on to improve performace or prevent gear stripping? How much diff grease should I put on? When I opened up the tranny case, it was absolutely filthy. The guy I bought it from must have put a ton of grease on the gears.

As far as bearing cleaning goes, I've read that people here go as far as opening up the bearings. Is this necessary or can I just buy the "bearing blaster" and use that to clean out the bearings? Or can I just spray the cleaner directly onto the bearings without spending $9 for the bearing blaster? Thanks for the tips...

I just noticed that both ends of the top half of my diff cases have holes in them right under where the middle screw for the shock tower goes into. Is this normal?

Also, if I buy a new TC3 tranny case, will this solve the binding problems I keep reading about or has the problem not been fixed by Associated yet? Will I need to buy a TC4 tranny case or one of those RDL Aluminum Tranny cases?

Definitely I think there is binding. Before I took this TC3 apart, the tranny wasn't that smooth. It would maybe keep turning for 1-2 seconds. Thanks for the help...

FYI - I've had some of GPM parts overdue two months from asiatees.com. For awhile they would return my emails about why they haven't shipped, now they're starting to ignore me.
