what pinion should i use on my stock johnson 540 for my 415... my spur is 102t... i want top acceleration and speed.. tnx =)

You can't have both top accerleration and top speed. I say 39T pinon will be a good starting point.

Some novice classes have a gearing limit, so check that first.
In regards to 540 Pro, where gearing is open, depends on the track. If it is a twisty tight track, I'd run 4.4-4.5:1, with an open track, closer to 4.2:1.
Check www.gearchart.com for gearing on the 415. Just choose the Tamiya 415 option, as the gearing is the same for all models of 415, unless you are running TA05 stuff in it.

At my local club (indoor carpet) most of the guys that run the stock 540J motor run 4.2 i think.
And for an outdoot track i think 3.8 would be a good starting point.

I had some tweak problems with my MSX but it wasn't any more then I had with the MS in all honesty. Since then though, I have put some TOP blue countersunk shims and countersunk screws to reduce the possibility of tweaking and have not had the car out of whack yet. Has been good so far.

The point is nobody (distros) has these parts. Nobody has had these parts for months now. It's why I didn't drive my car much before the 'Birds and haven't touched it since. I did most of that with CA.
If anyone knows where to get these parts at without sending my credit card info through email insecurely, please share the info.
But wait, there is also more great news from Tamiya - a new car coming out next month and its another kit based on the same parts you can't get now.. BRILLIANT!
