Really just ask the fast guys what they are using at your track and do that. They will have way better advice than anyone on the Internet.

F1 noob question ...
I’d like to use an F1 RC for parking lot bashing
Is that realistic, or are they strictly cut out for high grip carpet/prepped track?

You can totally bash around in a relatively flat parking lot that is slightly rough, but these cars are typically 5mm clearance and will bottom out on rough terrain

Straight axle pan cars (F1) aren't that much fun on pebbled parking lots. Too low grip and the gears are totally exposed... I'd really recommend something like the new associated DR10. It has big fat grippy tires, sealed gears and RTR. A lot of sweet body choices too

I just love the looks of F1’s and want one for bashing around. Guess that dream will have to die

You may consider this new up coming Tamiya 4WD eFormula looking chassis with sealed gear box.
New Tamiya Chassis TC-01
New Tamiya Chassis TC-01
Then wait for Exoteks new F1 chassis Or just get a normal F104.
Stones in the gears are not a problem. Grip is low on unprepared surfaces, but the fun is there.

Pretty excited for your new F1 but I really wish we could figure out a "direct drive" independent suspension F1. The best of the FGX with efficiency of direct drives. Offset spur gear with center gear diff like a TC, drive shaft runs inside the spur and spur attaches with spacers or something. Crazy thought but it's been in mind for a while.

The fgx can use bevel diff gears to suit a direct drive setup, but it will require an overhaul of the rear motor mount setup with extra long bevel pinions and very limited gearing possibilities...I prefer lightening the current setup while switching to a higher pitch(48p or 64p) gear setup...
