And it's not even that pretty, with a weird nose. Any options you can give me? The car is an F103 / F104 mix, BTW, catered to my small local tarmac track on foam tires. Aero does not really matter.

Cheers,

Looks like you can now get a '94 without the weird nose and at a decent price

F1rclab had some of the older bodies, wings and decals, take a look on the "Vintage Tamiya Bodies" tab.

Looks like the F-body an M-body styles are also there.

Schumacher/Shimizu 572 in the rear and Volante green/ (med hard), blue/ (medium), or purple (med soft) in the front, depending on track conditions. You may not need the medium soft fronts. Also, you have to sauce your tires. I like Protek red or Mighty Gripper, if you can find it.

Might have been asked a million times, but B194 decal set other than Tamiya, does one exist? I checked MCI and those are not B194 but B188.

Thanks

I don't have enough posts on the forums yet to post links, but you can find the decals you're looking for by doing the following.

Google "rcdecals uk"
Click on the top result
Once on the website, search B194

He's got a bunch of other really good liveries as well.

I've ordered decals from him several times, and they're always top quality. Even coming from overseas, the shipping is always quick.

Default FGX 2022 Revival

Well the 2022 F1 season is now a few races in and that has motivated me to bust out the old F1 RC cars and modify one to match the specs of the current gen cars.

I did a bit of internet sleuthing for 2022 F1 parts and the only things available are the MonTech front and rear wings for the 22 gen cars. After procuring the wings, I set out to see which car I would use as my mule/show car. I've been a madly obsessed fan of the Tamiya F201 car and have used that as my base for the previous gen cars. I'm not a big fan of the F104 style DD cars since they aren't as realistic so of course I settled on my 3Racing FGX, but with the McKune carbon chassis.

To my surprise, the MonTech wings need very little modifications in order for it to mate with the FGX chassis. The front wing piece only needed a new slightly offset hole to match the McKune front nose piece, and the rear wing, I simply had to cut off some very small pieces to allow the stabilizer bars to clear on the rear suspension. In fact, the rear wing isn't even really screwed down to anything - it's sandwiched between the stabilizer bar mount and the rear crash structure piece goes that through the wing opening and basically wedged into place. The existing wing mount posts from the FGX can be used to mount the swan-neck DRS mechanism I plan on 3D printing.

Speaking of 3D printing, for realism I mocked up some wheel arch/fenders and wheel hubs for the 22 gen cars in TinkerCad and 3D printed them. For the wheel arches I decided to use the grub screw hole for the kingpin upright as the mounting hole for the fender arch. I have a .1mm spacer in between to add clearance. I've designed 3 iterations of the fender as I've gotten better at creating the round curvatures and angles that the fender has. My next iteration will probably include a bracket that allows the fender to stabilize using the FGX brake caliper mounting hole on the front kingpin hub. Otherwise the fender rotates where the single screw is attached while driving the car under bumpy conditions and abrupt hard turning. The next 3D design I will try will be the floor and venturi tunnels along the sidepods. I don't think I will print an entirely new floor as my print bed isn't large enough for it to be a single piece.

Lastly, I'm test fitting some existing F1 bodies to see which one will match the general contours of the '22 gen cars. I like the front sloping shape of the nose on the original FGX body. I like the sidepods and floor, and air intake of the 2017 Tamiya Pro body. The new FGX 2022 car body also looks very good. The car is still a work in progress, so as I develop new parts and bolt them on, I'll post some update photos.

Now you need the rear wing lights that work like the real ones. When you hit the brakes the lights come on .Been using them for several months and sold several sets. Have for several Montech rear wings.
