If you are new to the RS and HotWire, read this post:

It should save you some time sifting through old posts on the thread.

Gentlemen,

I've officially entered the club! My RS and hotwire showed up this morning. I feel faster already...

I've read threads that say that novak motors timing can be adjusted. Is this true of the orange ring 13.5's? I tried it out, but it seems as though there really isn't much room in terms of rotation. maybe 45deg of rotation. Is this correct?

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks-Al

45 degrees would be a CRAP load of rotation. My tekin redline can rotate maybe 15 degrees... 1 centimeter maybe.

Check out Stormer Hobbies and check out the ESC / Motor combinations. Great price and great motor.

The Novak motors don't have a ton of room for adjusting the timing like the Tekin's but the difference in timing can be felt on the track.

Just a note on timing adjustments:

When changing it, especially adding more, ALWAYS check motor temp after a few laps with the new timing. Gearing usually has to be changed slightly to accomidate the change in timing. I have explained this many times when setting up esc's and motor's at the track, and had guys still go out and cook the heck out of their motors....

So I wrote a short document (attached) that summarizes what I learned by reading all those posts and by using the RS with Hotwire. I hope it will help others come up to speed more easily.

If you don’t have Word on your PC you can still read the document by downloading the free reader:

Please provide feedback via PM rather than cluttering up the thread. Cheers,

Thanks, that's a very good article for reading. I think anyone who buys one should read that. I also learned the way you did.

Thanks again.

The same thing happens here. People never believe what you tell them you're geared at and they go off and gear 2-3 teeth taller I'll be playing with a few things this weekend in 13.5 I'll also be running with out my fan for the first time in a while. Motor temps will be closely watched.
