I have the MO5 ball diffs on the way to me as we speak. Sent Friday by Champ with the new Tamiya steering for the MO5. (I have a parcel number). Hopefully here by Tuesday. I have a 3Racing MO5 ball diff that I have rebuilt, which I am going to try this afternoon.

Let me know how it goes Cal, I have 2 new 05Pro's sitting at home, and a hardly run Pro waiting for a ball diff before its race ready. I held off on ordering the TA03 version to see how the new one would go!

Also, since i'm bored outta my brains in Singapore waiting to check in for my flight - i did what every normal person would do and floated around the Tamiya website....

We've got a real one sitting in the shed at home - and they are a very cool car.....i can see several being ordered from Japan for me.....(in fact, I may have already emailed him )
TFG will also add no doubt that his hunch on the M05 being released to allow more body shells to fit the car, rather than being a performance based perogative, is also coming true.....but i'll save him typing it.....

I will give you my latest MO5L setup when you get home. I am finding that car to be very stable and quick, now that I have replaced the speedie. The car is very easy to drive and does not look fast.
This arvo I put in a 3Racing MO5 Ball diff into my MO5M, ( I rebuilt it) and went for a practice. The car seems better to drive than the diff I had in it before. I will be taking it to track tomorrow. So I will be able to tell you if the diff lasts the qualifiers and final and how the blades go. It is the 3Racing alloy MO5 diff.
Send me a PM and I will send my setup. I am still trying to put it into a sheet. TP will be able to give you a heads up on a good tyre combination.
I have two PRO's built and a standard one waiting to be built. I still think the car has a heap of potential. I also believe the MO5 works best with a diff rather than a spool. Though that is a personal preference.
I will let you know how the Tamiya diff performs when I have fitted it to the car.
BTW,
The Alpine looks good. Might have to order a couple for myself.

+1 on the diff over the spool. I have a box stock ta03 diff in my M05 now and it was very smooth to drive last night.
Spool was just too savage on tyres and always felt like it was running on the ragged edge of disaster.
I'm running the stock tamiya plastic front blocks, rear uprights and steering rack.
This is on the short wheelbase too.
My next moves are to add extra shims to the thrust bearing and add a little more toe out for turn in.
All in all,I'm finally happy with the car and having a ball with it.

All these bodyshells (Alpine and Honda S800) are simply a rerelease of the old M02 chassis bodyshells. Not very original

I have to confess I am one of those racers that doesn't take a lot of tim on setups. (Lazy)
I have got spice 32r all round with hard 5.0mm inserts. I have'nt measured ride hight exactly (but I will) It's about 4mm.
Unfortunately we dont have a permanent track and racing has finnished for the year. Makes it very difficult to test setup without a track.

I don't know which tyres you are running, we use 3035 rides on the front with a 5mm Spice insert and use Cross 36's with a 5mm or 5.5mm insert. This works at most tracks.
I have found these to wear fairly consistantly. Front RH is 3.5mm measured behind the motor and Rear RH approx 4-5mm. I am using stiff springs front and rear.
I will post a couple of pictures of my car when I can find my camera. This setup is on my MO5L. My MO5M is another story. It needs a bit of work.
I am still using the same tyres I ran at the Nationals which were used for 5 qualifiers, one final, practice another full race meet and they will be good for a few more yet.

The real cars are no more than 4feet high, the tamiya shell must be tiny!

is it normal for the bronze ball joints on the uprights on a mo3 to break i have now gone through two in two days ?

That happens alot. Most of us change to using either a long screw, through the bottom of the knuckle, add a spacer and then use a ball stud nut or use a droop screw, spacer and ball stud nut.
