Well I have just come back from racing and must say that my MO5L is way better to drive than my MO5M. I think I will be doing some setup changes to the medium wheelbase.
I think the MO5L might need to do some laps at Windsor.

My first day out with my M05 and one of my steering knuckles bent/deformed to the degree where it was actually touching the wheel. I have since upgraded to the Tamiya alloy front and rear hubs/knuckles.

I bet it happened to the side where the motor is, right? Common problem with the m03 and I knew it would be with the m05, motor heats up and the knuckle closest to it also gets warm and bends.

Do you really think that it's heat, and not the weight of the motor on that side of the car?
My motor does get hot, but I can't imagine that motor heat could affect the steering knuckle.

Believe it or not, yes. Next time you have it out, temp both of your alum knuckles and see the temp difference, you might be surprised...

I will post some then. Raced my M05Pro against some dailed M03M and M03L's. And there was nothing to choose between us, i was so pleased with how the car handled and behaved. I use it on Long wheelbase with TRF damper, 3racing steering and M05 Ball diff. The new balldiff really transformed my car with handling!
This is starting to be my favourite M-Chassi. My M04 would not behave whatever i did to it. And all i done with it from a perfect setup i had before was a chassi change.... Same set up as before but was crap to drive now, no matter what adjustments it would not turn or have rear grip....

RossoTorro, don't give up on the M04. Last weekend we had our yearly Futaba Cup race. Despite being limited to 19T gearing, my M04 was doing 18 laps (16.8sec/lap) whilst the rest of M03/M05 was 17 laps (17.4sec/lap). This was running sport tuned motors, lipo and 1,200 grm weight limit. It was fun driving my 6 year old M04 once again.
I do have an M03 and M05 as well. But I knew my 2004 M04 car would be faster. Rear wheel drive minis just accellerate so much faster and take sweepers so much smoother. A shame they are banned in the Tamiya World Championships.
P.S. I did make special tires for the race. It was Sorex 36r cut down to mini size. Our race allowed for any brand rubber tires as long as mini size.
Above pic is a joke to my friends as they have banned my "fabricated" tires. So I have "productionized" them

On your MO5, which hole do you have your front camber link in? If it is on the lower front mounting hole, then that type of tyre wear is normal. Most of us here are running the front camber link in the upper hole, as the tyres do noy wear as quickly.

The front link is in the top hole. I might get some adjustable links but it is handling so well I dont want to really change much. The tyres are not hard (meaning there is play between the tyre and the insert). Maybe this is helping to cause it. The wear is bad enough that I reccon I will get maybe 2/3 max nights out of the fronts.

I don't know which tyres you are running, we use 3035 rides on the front with a 5mm Spice insert and use Cross 36's with a 5mm or 5.5mm insert. This works at most tracks.
I have found these to wear fairly consistantly. Front RH is 3.5mm measured behind the motor and Rear RH approx 4-5mm. I am using stiff springs front and rear.
I will post a couple of pictures of my car when I can find my camera. This setup is on my MO5L. My MO5M is another story.
It needs a bit of work.
I am still using the same tyres I ran at the Nationals which were used for 5 qualifiers, one final, practice another full race meet and they will be good for a few more yet.

Which new MO5 ball diff are you using? I know the Tamiya was released in Japan on the 10 Dec. Is it the 3Racing or Tamiya? and is it setup as standard?

Hadn't made it to Singapore when i enquired yesterday at the Tamiya shop/importer. They had no fixed date........
