Guys I've got my M05 pretty much where I want it now, I run silvercan/NIMH on carpet and it's running with the M03's which dominate at my club. What I could use is a touch more turn in as it's running wide on 180 degree single drainpipe turns. If you need set up I'll elaborate but in terms of an RC car in general, what would you be looking to do? Or is that too general??

If you aren't already running the stand-up front shock tower, then you probably should. Lighter front damping may also help.

But my first reaction was "slow down"... ;)

I'm pretty tight most corners and a decent FTQ, but it did seem a touch slidey on 'that' 180 last night. I tried rolling off early, staying out wide etc. I've got the wide tower and in the outer hole too, 450cst on blue short springs up front, -1 arms. Maybe I just need to practise on that one!

Funny thing about Minis, they all seem to go faster with a softer spring up front and a harder spring in back. This is just my opinion, but the short Mini springs are all too stiff----that includes the white ones that come with the TRF shocks. That blue spring you have up front should make your car understeer like crazy.

Couple of other things you could try. Start adjusting your toe out. Sounds like you're running too much. Lower your front ride height or raise the back. These two adjustments will make your car "steer" better-----but unfortunately, not always.

Nah, if your car won't turn, driving practice isn't going to make it turn any better. I'm just guessing here, but it sounds like you base set up is off a bit. It sounds like it's too stiff, too much toe out and too wide. Ride height is probably level. Diff may also be a bit stiff. It sounds as if your car is easy to drive, but your results come from driving talent. Your car's not helping you.

Wanted to give another more serious heads up to anyone that has recently replaced their mini chassis recently although it may only be limited to recent runs of m05 chassis. I broke a second new chassis today in practice. I warned this before when my last new chassis broke in a mundain fender bender. Today the chassis broke in a brush with a dot. I am not sure what's going on but this last brush has ended my hopes of attending tcs as a mini class participant. I may still attend but not in this class. G/L to all that are going and be careful with your minis.

Well, it's minus 30 or 40 or some damned thing outside and i recently got new lighting for my workbench. (Ikea, Tertial task lamps, 600 lumen Ledare bulbs. Less than $40 invested!) Anyway, bored silly, thought I'd take some pretty shots of my weapon of choice. I really wish I was better at clean wiring.

Jay, I know the M05 is brittle as hell, but why not just slap a new chassis together?

FTQ - Fastest Time Qualifying

Hey Matthias, set up is pretty simple:
Fluoro blue springs, 30wt (I think) S Grips all around
Front shocks stood up a little
Front rides a little higher than rear
Stock diff, completely open
Bit of toe out front, ridiculous amount of camber set by stock pieces
1.5 degrees toe in rear, camber is adjusted closer to zero than stock
Rear sway bar fitted, but I'm not sure if it does anything yet

It's heavily dependent on having good back tires. If the rears are weak or you get off line, forget it. That said, it's also surprisingly easy on tires, especially compared to an 05.

The motor/ESC is our spec Orca Q Spark 2200kv. Think Hobbywing 13t, but 1/3 slower.

That stuff just doesn't come out of the Shoe Goo once it's in there. Tape and shoe-goo on are both inside and out, because I'm crashy.

Hey guys, getting ready for this Sundays TCS race at Horsham and decided to pick up a new set of TCS spec mini tires. HOWEVER, maybe it's me but the new tires feel softer that the 5 older / used sets I own. Even the color seems lighter. Feels like the tire " yawn" is much easier than my older tires. Maybe this explains why some guys are glueing the entire side walls and I haven't in the past.

Anyone experiencing / noticed the new batch of tires are softer. PS: I'm referring to the gray rim premounted s-grip

The new generation S-Grip premounts are a lot softer than the old tires. For most it's instant traction roll if you don't cyano the sidewalls of the fronts. Some will cyano the rears also, but some don't.

If you feel the sidewalls, they fold right over with very little pressure. They also wear out much quicker than the old ones. Once properly treated with glue, they'll give you some good lap times.
