hello everyone. I picked up a 1/10 touring chassis to run in the VTA class, but I have a few questions concerning the class.
- Are there any plans to allow the Novak Ballistic 21.5 motor? I like how the sensor wire is not attached to the motor, and from what I have heard, it has similar performance of the current legal 21.5
- Is the current body list shown on the website up to date?
- has there been discussion of 1S lipo usage in 21.5? I notice another place using there own form of VTA with 1S lipo and 17.5:

We pretty much found the same thing. Not taking into account the timing advance/boost speedos you have to go a long way with the FDR with a 21.5 FDR to get a real noticeable speed difference. Our 5.0 slows the cars somewhat but not much on lap times as you found. We are finding that you almost have to go to a 6.0 to really get them to slow down.

Wouldn't hurt to see a 190mm body of some of the great classic bowtie cars like the 69 Nova (which correct me if I am wrong ran a few TA races no?)or Chevelle even though they were just the muscle cars or if someone would please make a firebird and hell yeah light buckets would really make em stand out.

Ok. I am laying out what I am going to purchase, Here is what I got listed:
- Novak Ballistic 21.5T Motor or a used / refurb Novak 21.5 SS
- HPI4793 - HPI 26mm Vintage Racing Tire (D-Compound) (2)
- HPI4797 - HPI 31mm Vintage Racing Tire (D-Compound) (2)
- HPI3816 - HPI 26mm Vintage 5-Spoke Wheel (Black) (2) (0mm Offset)
- HPI3821 - HPI 31mm Vintage 5-Spoke Wheel (Black) (2) (6mm Offset)
I am going to be running this in / with the following:
- Academy STR4 Pro II (shaft car)
- Speed Passion GT2.0 Pro ESC
- RFI 4000mah 25C Lipo
- Aitronics 94357 servo
Now, my question is this:
- What bodies currently are the most durable to buy?
- What bodies currently are considered the best handling?
- What bodies are a great combination of the both?
- My Internal Ratio is 2.3 on the vehicle, with a spur gear possibility down to 62T. I am thinking for the 4.2 - 4.6 FDR Range to go with a pinion selection of 31 - 34T , does this sound about right?

What pitch gears are you running?

I'll be running 48 pitch gears.
I decided based on the thickness of the lexan and that I like the look of the body (I know, I know) to give the Parma Boss Mustang a go. Plus the price was good too for a NIB body, I figure, for a beater body, can't complain.
So, anyone here got a 21.5T motor for sale?

Of the legal bodies I haven't found any performance advantage/disadvantage... don't worry about that. The HPI Camaro is the most durable of the HPI bodies but the Mustangs aren't too far behind. Also the Camaro is a one piece body where the Stangs and Cuda are two piece. I also think its the easiest to mount "slammed". I think the Cuda looks bitchin' though... just reinforce the front. Actually though I think my fav body now is the Pegasus Mustang... not for everyone but I like it and is seems more durable than any of the HPI's. Not quite as detailed and no overspray film or window masks but it is really holding up very well.

That puts you at 4.46 = ((62/34) x 2.3)
It also tells you if that is the lowest number, the lowest number of teeth you can get to mesh properly is 62 + 34 or 96 teeth.
If you make the spur a 66 and the pinion a 36, you can hit 4.22. I'm guessing you'll run out of space on the other end at around 64/28 for an FDR of 5.42. That's a pretty good range. This gets a tooth count of 102 down to 94. You will want to see if someone can loan you these ratios before you go drop cash on them first. Good luck!
