True, but I have seen clubs go with differrent FDR for outside as opposed to in on carpet. And I could see why a club with a large track would want to go with 21.5 to unleash the dogs a bit. I dont think its the best decision, but I can see the logic.
We have a small track and have stuck with the 21.5 mostly because of availability. I've never even seen a 25.5 in real life.

I need help with gearing, what is the smallest spur gear that will work on Hot Bodies TCX?

Challenging track..... K town is back!
Hey Nash, we are running for the first time in years on the new and improved Intense Raceway in Knoxville TN today. Just practice today but the new layout will make you and your crime fighting sidekick drool. I am worried that the 25.5 Trans Am motor will be too slow though. 9000sf of track with a straight over 100' might be a bit much. Do you know anywhere they are running VTA on a track that big with 25.5?

lol yeah I just got it used wed. That was taken soon as i opened package. I plan on cutting them down to make it easier for the drivers panel and so the wires dont get pushed into belt.

As has been said about 1,000,000 times, the slower the cars the closer the racing. True whether real cars, RC cars or slot cars...it's a universal truth.
Example: SCCA race Formula V at Lime Rock Park (very short track) and at Road America (very long track with a BIG hill to the start/finish line. They don't put a bigger engine in the cars at RA, they just race. In fact the ONLY recognized true " dead heat" in SCCA history was Formula V at RA. I've seen pics of finishes there where a large tarp could cover 6-8 cars.
The 'need' for more motor is all in the racers' head. You don't have time to be bored when you're dicing in a pack all the way down the straight with everyone dicing for the preferred line into turn 1.
