FYI you can link your 2s batteries together but it raises the cg of your car aND I wouldn't recommend it. Also the rule of thumb to determine minimum c rating is esc amp rating devided by battery capacity devided by 1000. Ex: 210 amps (peak amps on rx8) / 6000 mah / 1000 = 35c.
most of my 2s are inboard, i have 1 i think that is deans, but it is different C and Mah. the mugen can do side by side batts right? i cant stack my hardcase inboards. ]:
ill just have to invest in some of those SMC batts once i get my eb48.3 (which is sooooon!!!)

I'm not over thinking it, I'm just saying all I current have are inboard 2s since I just have sct's. I am going to buy smc 6500s when I get my tekno since they are a great value. I was trying to get a feel of what C rating I need for 4s, sincr they are new to me.

Cliff notes:
Brand A offers 100C
Brand B offers 90C
Brand C offers 60C
Brand D offers 40C
Brand D has more power and punch than Brand A and B. You just simply can't compare them. Pick a brand you feel treats you well and offers you a good product. Don't get too wrapped up in C Rating. Especially in 8th scale where everything is way over powered anyway.

Ok, I bought a Losi SCTe used back in April, and it came with 3 batts (2s, ranging from 20c-40c and 5000-7200). They were all used mind you, but after running the truck twice with each battery, they melted the inboard terminals off, and cracked the sides of the hardcase. I went and looked at the SCTe forum, and everyone said to get a cap pack, and to run 2s 50c+ for SCT's cause of the weight/kv etc.. so I did, with GensAce 70c packs, and haven't had an issue. Thats the only reason I really asked. I know thats not a good source of testing, considering they were used, and no cap pack.. but still. haha. It does sound like 1/8 are a lot more forgiving with C rating anyway.
Also, one more question. For the 1/8 setup, I plan on using my RX8g2 and a Tekin 1900kv. Do I need 10awg for that? or will my Tekin 12awg be okay? I see that the 4s batts use 10awg.. so wasn't sure

What really needs to happen is 3 cell batteries with smaller KV motors. Then the amp draw will be closer to what you see in 8th scale and the batteries won't basically be garbage in a few runs. But that will never happen and is an argument for another time.

Ive noticed.. seems to wreck my batts, and hoping it doesn't hurt my Tekin.. Once I get my 1/8 ebuggy setup, I doubt ill mess with my SCT much...
But ever since i added the cap pack to it, its seems to be doing a lot better.

12 will be fine. You'll have an issue getting 10 fully on the rx8's solder posts. so the extra thickness is a waste.

I tried using 10 on my SCT410.3, and it wasn't happening.. lol, so i went with the tekin 12awg.. good to know!

got to run the buggy again this weekend but instead it was on a smaller 1/10th scale track since the bigger one is getting rebuild currently. Again i was pleased with how the buggy was driving from the box set up but i knew it could get better. SOOOO i decided to buy a 3, 5, 7, 10, 12k diff oil and shock oils differing from 300 to 750(all from PTRC) along with the 3x2.1 tapered pistons in case the tracks get rough. Also I got another body so i can try to not mess it up like my last one. Lastly i purchased the delren shock cartridge set paired with the TI Nitride shock shafts. Hopefully all the above sets me up for just about any track.. i know tires are a very key aspect too but those obviously vary from track to track. Im heading to Thunder Alley and possibly OCRC in two weekends so i wanted to be ready for either.
i also finished reading this thread so i think ive got a pretty good understanding of this buggy and hopefully i can get this thing figured out without too many questions. If anyone has suggestions or maybe something i missed let me know! Maybe someone in this thread will be at TA or OCRC that weekend of the 2nd

You can stack the inboard batteries as well. I used to run two shorties stacked with inboard connectors. Stack them offset make a wire that goes from one of the batteries positive terminals to the other batteries negative and plug your esc into the remaining terminals. Still like the 4s better but if your budget is tight it works.

Do they need to be identical? They are all 70c, but some are different mah.. still looking into getting 4s, but curious about how that works with 2s
#2084
Yes, you do want identical 2s batteries. Ideally you want the same batteries purchased at the same time. But at least the same brand/specs.

Figured, all my 2s are the same brand and roughly same use... But not all the same mah... Ill just invest in 4s and not mess with my sct batts
