So I ran 13.5 at Cactus this weekend. Switched to the shorty setup Saturday for Rd4 qualifying to see if I could get a little more speed. Car was good but I needed a little more front dampening for the high speed. Was still having issues with traction rolling, saddle and shorty. Car felt good. Dropped 100g and got the weight closer to the B44's.

My wife's 22-4 is running a 13.5 geared 76/26 and its very smooth and extremely easy to drive. There is just so little wheel spin and there isn't really enough power to get the car upset so you can be just inch perfect on your lines. I do put the disclaimer on her gearing that I think that we are going to drop the gearing to 78/26 because its getting a bit hot for 30 minute practice sessions so we'll see if that helps. I've got my old XX4 Trinity heat sink to try as well. It fits fine but I need to rearrange to motor wires to accommodate it.

can anyone tell me their experience with the 22-4 on 1/8 scale outdoor tracks? And also how does the handling compare to a 1/8 scale buggy?
I would like to get something a little more convenient than my nitro for practicing at my local outdoor track, but at the same time I want to get something to run as a second class at my local indoor 1/10th scale track. 4wd Buggy is just starting to get some life around here and I've yet to see one outdoors.

Phillypete how well a 1/10 4wd buggy will deal with an 1/8 track comes down to the condition of the track. No 1/10 buggy feels like an 1/8 buggy but the more you drive in any class the higher your experience level which only helps.
If the track is typically smooth and groomed with good jump takeoff faces the 22-4 should do fine. They jump well even on the typical larger 1/8 size jumps. If the track is allowed to blow out and get rough you will find a 1/10 4wd buggy will get tossed around quite a bit although the 22-4 should deal with rough tracks better than any other 1/10 4wd buggy.
Another vehicle to consider for both the 1/8 and 1/10 tracks is a SCTE 2.0 4wd sc truck. They handle rou 1/8 tracks and any 1/10 track very well. Of course how popular sc racing is compared to how much fun you WILL have running a 22-4 on a 1/10 track is a rou decision.

I realize that it will be very different than an 1/8th scale, but I'm hoping that the skills and driving style are more transferable than 2wd 1/10th.

Yes it will be more like an 1/8 than a 2wd buggy would be.
If you drove a 2wd sc at the 1/8 track then a 22-4 should be fine.
