I just got the avid top shelf and have a hobby wing v3.1. I am having trouble getting the speedo to fit without rubbing the body? Anyone used this combo before that can share how they got it to fit?

The speedo has posts on top so putting the wires under would be challenging...

I have the stock spec 3.1 and the shelf running a Finnisher. I actually just cut the body a bit and folded it up a little above the speedo. Basically it's just a flap that sticks up about 5 mm. Also get air to the esc.

What's wrong with the arms currently available?

The stock arms are fine, and so are the carbon arms. Keep your car on a stand when storing it. If they warp then replace em.

How long do the outdrives last on the B4.2. I run 17.5 was curious how often people change them out and rebuild CVD's.

Replace when they start notching. Replace cva at the same time

Your talking about notching from the diff ring wear right?

No mid-motor or shelved ESC for me...happy with my traditional configuration

My out drives have been through two sets of cva's , and there is no noticeable wear(running mod). I'm sure manufacturing tolerance's arent extremely precise with the Chinese , so it wouldn't be out of the question to see greatly different hardness levels from run to run.

17.5 buggy is pretty easy on your drive terrain. I would expect it to last quite a while. My sc and t4 wear the drives much faster.

I have ran a 17.5 in my B4.2 exclusively since I bought it and almost 5 months later, they barely have any real wear. I built my car with a MIP diff so I run MIP outdrives they have no wear. The slot where you put the pin through the axle to attach the dogbone is the only place that is wearing out. Moral of the story, you should not have to worry about CVA wear for a long time if you run a 17.5 setup. Unless you get aluminum CVAs and outdrives....in which case, plan on them not lasting as long.

Replace the outdrive cups when you see a big notch on the inside &
replace the CVA when the pin for the drive cups are flat and no longer round .

recommend replacing both as a set because they both wear out about the same time ..

I replace mine every 8 weeks of racing . But I race MOD and way more them most sometimes 3 to 4 days a week ...
