Man, white rear springs... those are SO aggressive. I tried them last night on my 4.1 big bore and good god it was such a hand full to drive no matter what I did with the rear roll center. It was faster, but really difficult to drive consistent on our medium to low bite track. I find it really strange that historically the b44 and b4 have always ran the same rear springs (green small bores), and now that we're on big bores, the team runs green on the b44 big bores, and white on the b4 big bores. I definitely prefer green on the 2wd big bores. I pulled .1 second faster "fast lap" with whites, but consistency went way out the window.

We often use green then go to white later when the traction comes up after the track has worn in for a few weeks.

how are you guys setting up your suspention for a carpet track?

started with the standard setup, suburbs rear, scrubs front. Shock oil is about 5W below AE Setup. Probably will go up to AE weight for sure. Also, may go stiffer springs front and rear.

our track got really cold later in the day, so a switch style tire would have worked better, less rotation. Or, a front barcode tire.

I also run a light rear swaybar, the lightest (black?). It common on our carpet for the sc10 and T4 guys to run the silver one. felt really great.

schumacher pins though would fluff the carpet so I have been leary of trying them (no rule right now though).

Why is everyone so amped about this .2? It's the same thing 95% of us have been running for a couple months.

I think because some have held out on getting the big bores in anticapation for this car
Im also curious to see if any of the molds may have been re-done and or improved.
I was tempted on buying one at wcrc but held off since i just rebuilt my car but would be nice to build a new kit

I doubt 95% of people were running a b4.2 equivalent. Most people looking for a new car in the past few months probably were holding out for an update.

If you need a new kit, this is a whole lot cheaper than buying a B4.1 and Big Bores separately. Nothing that new, but it's nice to have all the stuff everyone's been running already, in its own package.

I just got a set to test tonight .....:batman:

using AKA red close cell inserts , will be scuffing them in tomorrow.

Look for reports on how perform for me & my teammates ...

Hopefully yours is different or newer than the Handlebars that were handed out down here in SoCal late last year at the AKA series @ OCRC. My buddy drove those a few times at both OCRC & WCRC and they pushed. I know it's super early in the game for AKA and 1/10 though.

Well, I did hear a rumor that they changed manufacturers for this .2 and supposedly the quality has gone up. Again, it's just what I've heard. :)

Sure hope the ball cups on the b4.2 don't have the same problem that the b44.2 ball cups had. The kit ball cups are junk and split, but the same part off the shelf is made of a different material and doesn't split.

ryanpatrickgore 01-30-2013 01:36 PM

i bet you that the 44.2 was from the new manufactures too if this is true, plastic ballcups were different from any other ae kit.

stock up on rpm cups everyone, and prepare yourselves for pages of ball cup conversations to come.. a new chapter in this thread. lol
