anyone got opinions on the 1.5mm + 1.1mm pistons? The description sounds like something that could benefit out here in comparison to the 1.6mm x 2 holes using now. This would be for outdoor loose track conditions, 1/8 sized tracks as well as smaller 1/10 tracks. Big jumps on both.

Also, anyone have opinions on the AE big bores versus the Kyosho big bores? In particular, is there a performance difference you are noticing by going with one or the other? Any shock length differences? (ex- kyosho's need X limiters to get same limiter length as AEs, etc)

Right now have Kyosho's as that is what came with the car.

Are you referring to the velvet shocks or non-velvet?

For what it's worth, built my car with the VTS slipper, set it like I use to on my losi. Ran it, sounded like it was slipping a lot, took it apart and the spring was bent. Never seen this in my life before and it was built correctly. Just put an AVID on it last night to test Thursday.

I have tried the tapered pistons and like them a lot. Help in the ruts and help on face of jumps

Couple outdoor tracks here in ATL that are low to med bite that I use the 1.5 + 1.1 pistons on. They work great since the tracks ruts up and there is a rumble strip section. Your track descriptions sound exactly like ours here and the these pistons work great. it allows the car to float over the lower speed bumpy stuff and still take the impact of the large jumps. I use 32.5 front and 30 rear with yellow front Avid springs and white Avid rear springs. Tires are usually JC Rips and Proline Tazers...Dialed!

I might try out our indoor track for the next few weeks. Or perhaps put LED's in my buggy so I can see it for night racing...... here is a panaramic pic of the indoor layout. The run counter clockwise. Notice the lovely car shattering bricks everywhere, lol. My b4 fear this track. Maifield and some other Phoenix sponsored guys came down last weekend to race.

The bricks are outside of the pipes...as long as you stay in the 10ft wide lanes you will be fine.

yeah, its a nice facility. I only go there about every 2 months or so. Mostly because my kid runs a series at another track. Traction is pretty good. I think M4 Suburbs are good in the rear and with m3 suburbs up front. I used to run Pink Beams on the last layout. But I rarely leave this track without breaking 2-3 things. if you shoot wide on the jumps, those bricks love to rip things off my car.

true story....if only I could make it a reality. This layout is acutally not too bad. The quad is where the breakage happens now. I just puss out and double double and fly low. triple single is risky for breaking and pretty much no one aside from Maifield clears the entire quad. I also cheeze out on the ravine jump at the end of the straight. I just know that wall wants to take a shot at my a-arms. Sadly, when I run this track, I back way off on driving and just try to finish the race without my car in pieces.

Well its always good to drive in the comfort zone. It would probably be easier to drive if you went there more, you would be more comfortable how the track flows.

yeah, this layout is not too bad. They are running a series race there over the next few weeks and it seems to be drawing a larger crowd. And I can see my car at this track lol. So I might run the series.
