I run Associated ball cups and like them, maybe it's the ones that come with the kits because I have had them for a while but mine are solid
|
Try Losi or RPM ball cups.

Ive often wondered if the pro set up sheets are even close to what they really run. If a pro shared their super dialed, secret set up with everyone, wouldn't they be losing the edge they have over the competition?

I just got back from my first night at the track with my 4.2 and to say I am disappointed is an understatement. First of all, I determined the noise I had was the diff barking even when at full tight. I'll take the blame for maybe having it too loose to begin with and causing the issue. However, at the track I only ran 10 minutes and managed to break 3 ball cups from landing normal sized jumps. The first snapped the ball cup portion off which is consistent to what I am used to seeing. However, the last 2 both split entirely in half from tip to tip. I don't know if I got a bad batch or something but I've got some RPM cups on order and will be replacing all of them before my next trip to the track.

I think most people kinda figure associated ballcups WILL break so, rpms are one of the first things they get. I know I did.

I built mine with RPMs out of the box. Didn't even bother with the stock cups. I have had bad luck with them in the past. But it does take a pretty big hit to break them.

Well pretty much put my old setup on. Maybe when I get the 3x1.4 tapered machined pistons I will give maifields setup another go but my track isn't high grip nor am I as good as ryan lol. I did end up leaving in long wheel base and I broke my habit of running a heavier car at least for now.

Just mounted a set of MC Suburbs on Avid wheels and it set in minutes. Must be a glue issue? Looking forward to playing hookie tomorrow from work and trying them out

FYI... The ball cups that come in the kit are NOT the same as the ones that you buy as spares. Those are much better.

I got some Kyosho "hard ball ends." I wonder if the AE ball studs are close to 4.8mm.
My favorite ballcups are the Losi XXX cups. I've NEVER popped one off. Hell, they're difficult to remove when making adjustments. Next would be Associated, and then the RPMs. I don't use those unless I have to. |

Not even close.

Best ballcups and ball ends I have seen used on any B4 to date are
buy the TLR22 ball ends and ball cups. You'll never regret it. Strongest suckers on the planet with a beefier ball that has the allen hex in the ball-end for easy installation and removal. |
