I am building a new 4.2 and planning to put a 120amp BH esc with 8.5 Trinity motor in it. I will be using the Futaba 4PL and a Savox 1257TG servo. My question is, are these electronics a good choice or should I go with something different. Also a good starting point for gearing would be appreciated as well.

This buggy is really really good. It took me no time at all to get it hooked up out of the box. I like the way it drives but I need to make a few minor tweaks to get it where I want.

I am looking for less on power steering. How do I get this without effecting off power? Off power is perfect right now. Coming off the straight into the sweeper it just wants to keep turning. Kind of nice sometimes but sort of hard to control. Here is my current setup:

Front:
Camber -1
Toe +1
Shock Position 1 Tower 0 on Arm
Camber Link A on the C hub 1 on tower 2mm washer inside
Steering rack Front
2mm bump steer
30 wt. oil
Black spring
24mm Ride height
3mm Shock Limiter

Rear
Camber -1
Toe 3
Anti Squat 2
Shock postion 1 Tower 1 Arm
C Hub Shaved brace no spacer ball stud middle on hub
Long wheelbase
24mm Ride height
30 wt oil
White Spring
2mm Shock limiter

Shorty Battery forward 2 pads in front

I think I might need a softer spring in the rear because I am running a short pack in the forward position. I might pickup some avid springs at my LHS today and give them a try.

Thanks.

The BH esc is nice but its clunky and big. You can make it fit without a fan no problem though. Maybe consider a Hobbywing Xtreme stock if you want something smaller and cheap. I run a Tekin RS in mine. 1257TG is the same servo I have in mine and its great. Trinity is good motor.

Did you have to run a glitch buster with this servo.

Had a futaba 4PL and yes I did run a glitch buster in my Losi 22. I run a Airtronics M11x and removed all my glitch busters with no issue. I have 4 cars running savox 1257 and 1258 the Futaba would glitch on every single one and the M11x has not.

I would check out the Speed Passion Reventon R for your ESC. IMO they are a much nicer unit and the support is excellent.

@chevmaro, are your outdrives in good shape without any deep grooves and same with the cva's?

Does that ESC support boost now? I dont know why in the product description it only says 7.5 to 10.5 for boost.

The (STOCK1) software uses Hybrid Boost Turbo technology, a great innovation for advanced boost (stock or modified) racing. This software is targeted for 7.5T to 10.5T modified motors (Hybrid Boost Turbo software for higher turn motors will be available soon).

I will be getting a b4.2 soon, and since I run at WCRC most often, I was going to start with an old Reedy Race or ROAR supernats setup.

Those setup sheets say the factory team is running carbon front arms and b44 rear arms. Are people still running this setup for arms? From what I've heard, the stiffer arms are more for protecting the shocks rather than a noticeable change in handling. Is this correct?

yup! Pretty standard setup for clay. Who ever told you the stiffer arms are for protecting shocks don't listen to any more of his advise its completely wrong.

Also pick up a carbon u-brace to shave flat and C-hubs.

So I am running on a low-Medium bite track, I have been running 30wt with white springs, I was wondering if I went from 30wt to 30wt again but ran green springs would I see any difference, like I know i would what would be the differences?

I run the same setup except for my motor which is a Reedy Sonic and my radio gear is Airtronics. No glitch buster needed for those but Futaba im not sure about. Could'nt hurt to pick one up just in case. You will love that esc. Its extremely smooth on the throttle and braking.

Actually they do help protect the shocks from hitting the turnbuckle since they dont flex as much as the stock arm.
