Dose the b4.2 have a longer shaft then the b4.1?
If there is no difference I would think that the ring with the D shaped hole isent seated properly... |

I changed my slipper to the new 4.2 slipper, I'm using the stock spring and I have to have the nut so backed off to set the proper tension that its only on half way.
I have the stock output shaft, a B4.1 slipper pad, the spur, the new slipper housing, a new slipper pad, metal plate, new slipper pad, then the final outer most slipper plate from the new slipper, the stock spring and then stock nut all the pads are sitting flat especially the very first one that kinda hidden back there. Any ideas? |
I see that a lot of people are drilling out their chassis like cav to run their servo/transponder wires through. Could this weaken the chassis? It looks super clean but I don't want to give up rigidity for good looks.
Any thoughts? |

They physically fit but the area that the slipper pads fit into is thicker. So when you tighten the slipper nut to kit specs, it locks up the slipper. I recommend ditching the VTS and replacing with Triad from AVID. Lighter and better spur gears that run true and more range of gear sizes.
|
Who tightens their slipper nut to some spec? Start loose and tighten until it's right. There's no need for a special spring, just a fresh loc nut like its always been.

the vts works like crap in stock with the v2 spring. That is why they changed it to the old b44 spring. The v2 might be ok in mod, I dont run mod, so dont know. But my nut is flush and it wont slip at all. I am just waiting for the stock on the b44 spring to come in. It has been out of stock for a few months now.

it shouldnt really, u are just drilling through braces, not the actualy chassis, and dont drill any bigger than needed, i just built my b4.2 and came up with this wire routing, let me know what you think, oh and the red shrink wrap will be black, just didnt have any at the moment, havent trimmed antenna yet either lol

I run the VTS with the JC Spurs. I will tell you that with the std V2 spring, it doesn't fit right. BUT I had this issue with other spurs too.
The V2 spring is the same length as the V1 spring but different rate. I happened to have an old V1 spring in my box. I put that on, and bang no more issues. And yes Wayne, I did try a new lock nut and everything LOL. Even tried threading one on backwards like we used to do in 12th scale. |

thanks Performs great , use a new pinion if you use and all will be silent .. The vent holes help keep temps down for a bonus .. |
I weighed mine at the track tuesday night. Same electronics that my son used to run in his B4.1 Worlds (weighed 1481g's for reference) the only differences is I've added 21grams next to the reciever to balance out the chassis because of the ESC. (something I didn't bother to do on my 9 year olds B4.1 lol) and I'm running ballast weight on the B4.2, which was not used on the B4.1
Running 7grams in each rear triangle on both cars, same electronics, same shorty battery, and bearing/pin's on both cars (yes I converted the .2 to bearings/pins) so basically the main differences are BB's, alum. steering rack, and VTS. the B4.1 weighed 1481 the B4.2 weighed 1545 (minus the ballast weight of 17 grams, and 21 grams I added = 1507grams both cars being equal.) So with that, my educated guess is that the B4.2 is about 25-30grams heavier than the B4.1 worlds...all things being equal. |
