Can't remember where I read it or if its true but I was told it costs associated something like $25 roughly to make each kit. With how many people will still be buying the B4.2 even if it is only a few upgrades you can buy seperately, I'm sure they won't be complaining with the profits if that is indeed true ;)

if that was true, that would explain the quality of some parts.

The AE parts quality is fine. I read the durango, Losi and Kyosho threads. The AE breaks no more than those. AE did the buyer a favor and included all the hopups, so I can only applaud them. I would also like a B5, but only when this platform cant perform.

Again if what I stated is true, it explains the use of 6000 series aluminum instead of 7000 series like what some of the other more expensive companies and kits use (Xray is one example). This would explain people bending any of the alloy parts to some degree, obviously 7000 series will bend but will take a lot more force to do so.

At the end of the day I say the associated kits as a whole are pretty good for what you pay in comparison to Kyosho, xray etc

i dont see all the huff on non new kit. i just want them to come out with the stadium truck and ill be getting it.

associated still competes. they dont have to come out with complete new car.

I race a original t4. no mods precept the rear has threaded shocks. not even big bores. its wore out and time for a upgrade. I drove a buddies 22t that is dialed for a while and gave it back. he asked "what you think?" i said "id rather have my busted old t4, drives better, jumps better, and turns better?" and i got a hookup on losi to get it way cheaper than you see on amain.

I would'nt get rid of my T4.1 for anything. It lets you drive it so hard and just flat out performs. Just like my B4.1 my T4 has all the ,2 upgrades minus the new towers and arms but I like it just the way it is.

Venom1836 01-11-2013 05:32 AM

Could I get the part # for the new towers?

Thanks!
-Venom

Also, do the new towers seem to mount different, or are they just pre-shaved?

Wildcat1971 01-11-2013 05:41 AM

The rear is pre shaved. And the part numbers are the same. It will be a running upgrade.

trick25 01-11-2013 06:48 AM

my old t4 does not have big bores. big bore spring even. threaded shocks. alum bellcranks. so ill be getting the t4.2.

The 2wd truck has mad a resurgence around her outdoor tracks and im so happy they did. i love my 2wd SC but it cant hold a candle to the stadium truck.

only thing im curious to see if the .2 version wheels will be same offset as the 22 wheels?

same part #, same tower, just pre shaved for clearance of BB shocks. Position of tower is the same place

I wish the U Brace was pre shaved as well.

With aluminum, the higher number does not necessarily equal greater strength. For instance, the alloy parts in our cars would be stronger if forged out of 2014 alloy than 6000 alloy at a lower cost than 7000.

Looking at the pics it seems the rear is pre-shaved but also moved forward a bit. The front appears to moved forward slightly with a molded in raised rear section at the shock mount.

I'm fine with saying the AE cars are still the best, "despite" the sloppiness of the parts. After all, they sound like they're going to break when they land and everything is loose as hell, but they still win. However, implying the quality is the same as the others, or that they break no less (thinking front A-arms here) is very slightly disingenuous. It's just the others feel like finely engineered "tools" of racing, and the AE stuff feels like toys. I have a hard time not laughing when I'm marshaling, particularly on our triple and the AE cars land and sound like belly-flopping plastic and the Losi and RB6's land so gracefully and tight.

Another indication of quality is the aluminum parts. How sloppy are the rear hubs? How consistent is the blue anodizing? A couple months ago I bought a tierod that had no threads machined on one side. I also bought a motor plate that was drilled incorrectly and bound up. Third, I bought an aluminum pin brace that also didn't have the holes machined big enough. Granted, all 3 of these (this is only over the past 3 months) were replaced super quick by AE and their outstanding customer service, but it's still terrible attention to detail. Their QA manager, if one exists, needs to be fired.

I'm one of the "old" racers from the 80's and AE stuff used to be top top notch. The quality just slipped when they sold out IMHO.

On a positive note, my son ran 11 races last weekend with the B4.1 WC (3 classes and double A mains) and didn't break a single thing which is good. :) Though my son was using it as a "basher" a couple nights ago and a friend he was racing on a bicycle ran it over so as I finish up this post I have to get ready to replace a rear A-arm so I can get ready for the Friday night races tonight. Can't win. Need to buy that boy a Slash or something to bash with. LOL :p

I'll come back to this thread when all the  about it not being a B5 and how there was no need to put out a .2 because EVERYONE has all the "current" parts slows down..about page 40 I'll guess.:ha:

I for one have been running a different brand for a while so for me it's perfect. I don't have to buy a WC kit PLUS shocks, slipper, hexes etc. It's all packaged in one box....all for basically the same price as a WC edition.

How many bought a WC who already had a 4.1......tons

Carry on:cry:......:D
