I put the 6 degree caster blocks on, but have yet to run the car. Getting hammered with work in school.
Last week I ran 866cst (40wt losi) in my 2wd xray on med/high bite and it was AWESOME! In the past I was worried about diffing out so I never went lower than 1k but I should of done this long time ago. Of course when the traction comes up I move the CST up. Usually I run 3k with metal internal diff gears on high bite clay.

Just for fun I thought I would try the same in my 4wd. 3F/866R and it was GOOD! but it was too planted after the track was swept. by the end of the night I was back to 7f/3r (could of went to 10f/5r).

I have extra prefilled diffs so swapping is very easy an fast. my suggestion would try a lower cst and go from there. All depends on your driving style

PS~ Dont forget to reset your diffs

Anyone having a problem with the ballcups staying on? In particular, I am talking about the steering link. In my case, I keep losing the right side one after crashes, rubbing a pipe the wrong way, and sometimes just after a hard landing. The whole thing just pops off and I have to hunt for it on the track.

I already replaced the ball studs AND ball cups - twice. Akerman positions, etc. are all stock and unchanged. The problem only really developed recently, within the past couple months. Of course, at first I blamed it on the car just being old (been running it for a year now) and needing the new parts. But the problem persists even after 2 ball cup and ball stud replacements.

Naturally, this is quite vexing to me and I'm losing my mind trying to figure out what the problem is. Any ideas?

Idk if it's solution, but you might want to try TLR Ball Cups & Studs. I've foundvthem to be the strongest and most precise of all and they hold up to impossible shunts!

What's a good setup for indoor clay/topsoil mix with low/medium traction? Also, what pinion gear do you recommend for a 8.5t motor with a 81t spur gear. Thanks guys.

I can only assume you mean a used 2013 XB4, so I'll agree with Joey above, it's probably fairly well used at that price.

Typical items will likely need replacing, the eccentric bushings for the suspension ($8), o-rings for the shocks and diffs ($15), but the real kicker are the diff outdrives - how badly worn are they? They're $35 per set. Replacement bevel & pinion are $20 - you may need two sets. Bearings from say Avid are $22 for a complete set. If you don't get a chance to see it in person, like anything else, it's a bit of a gamble. Budget to spend another $100.

Just picked xb4 4wd. It has kit setup. Any suggestions for medium outdoor low traction track? One triple but lots of 180's. Almost no traction. Still looking for right tire. Rear is loose. Front pushes. Im sure both will improve with better tire. This is my first 1/10 scale coming from 1/8 scale. So i have heavy throttle
Throttle finger. Lol. Any suggestion appreciated.

Get with me at bush River raceway next time and I'll let you drive mine to see if you like it. But get avid 1.5x1.1 for the front and 1.6x1.1 pistons for the rear. Best investment you can make for the car.

I'm Considering buying the XB4, what common problems need upgrading right away? I heard there was an issue with the shock towers, still so?
thanks

If you run the metal support plates (stock on the 14) they are extremely durable. I initially bought a ton of spares for mine and should have held off as I have only broken one A-arm from clipping a wall (my fault) and replaced the rear composite ring and pinion gears (set you slipper correctly). This vehicle is extremely durable and one of the best "wheelers" available, maybe you'll get lucky and they will release the 15 version before you buy....
