SC10 4x4 Thread
13/62 with no issues so far. I have a MMP but have not had a need to use it. Drag brake is 10% and total brake is 50%.

What pitch is that gearing? I kinda want to run 48. Are you running a fan on it, any venting of the body for extra airflow? I may just give it a try and see what happens, I'll just keep the temp gun handy.
32 pitch gears. No fan. I run flo-tek bodies from Proform with all the cutouts.
Its great to see all the kinds of mods we can do to the sc10 4x4. I wanted to share the brace I made for my truck. Its ugly as sin but seems to work real well even without the battery hold down bar. The brace utilizes four pre-existing mounting holes and didnt require any drilling or modifying of the original chassis.
And surprisingly this brace isnt too heavy.

lol yeah i know its harsh on the eyes
. I was going to make a rod-style brace like the one you have but I was concerned with drilling into parts of the truck that I am unsure can handle the added stress. I will be running it on my local track this week to see if it helps or not.

Had the diffs apart tried adding one shim to each outdrive before i put it through the bearings to make them a little less sloppy. Once i put all back together, in the housing, and put the tower on, everything was bound up. Had to take them back out. Its like the diff just barely fits in the case and i guess one more shim on each side was too much.......so all my outdrives still are sloppy as heak

I just ordered one of these from Tower. Also got the sway bar kits, RPM arms, and some M3 bowties. Also ordered the clutch basket the guy sells here on this forum. I have a new MMP with ether a Tekin 5.5 550 or a Ballistic 4.5 550 which will go in it.
Even after reading all the mods people are doing on here and the supposed problems with this truck, I still decided to give it a shot. Cant beat $229 shipped from tower(with SS discount).
No offense to anyone, but there has to be something other than the truck that is causing people issues driving it. 1-I don't see a company like AE releasing a truck that would be so horrible to drive as people describe. 2-I don't see the "Ryans" hacking up a truck or creating an "erector set" center brace for it, lol.....something is off and I don't think it's just the truck.

the truck is really great and the enginuity is one of a kind, heck its the only belt drive 4x4sc out there. the truck does have its own issues but what truck doesnt. ae designed it to be light yet strong enough to not break parts and ive only seen a few guys at my local track breaking due to lack of self control lol. the decoupled slipper is a great idea but wasnt engineered to take high abuse from high powered motors hense it slips, or should have had a pin on the top shaft from the get go. people here have created some highly sought of parts, ie clutch basket, and the soon to be ball diff. to make the truck work as it should. the flex is from the three conjoining chassis pieces which is stiff but not like a one piece would be. there is lots more potential with this truck and guys like the pros are using some of the products produce from people on here. and last thing is how you build this truck will determine how it will perform, like some key areas that would cause binding from a screw being too tight.

I think its just like any other Version 1.0 of anything, its gonna have issues. AE was very ambitious creating a wholly new design for a 4x4SC and was the reason I wanted the truck so bad. The bad thing was the rushed getting it out there. I believe the FT version of this truck will fix most of the issues and will be a true contender like their other FT rigs.
So for now I have lots of fun racing and messing with it, after all most of us RC guys are tinkerers at heart.
BTW the erector set chassis brace has a Patent Pending!!! LOL jk
I hope to have a much professional looking build of the brace shortly. I had an idea and quickly stole parts from my kids erector set to mock it up. My daughter asked me if she was gonna have her parts back as I was spray painting it black! Sorry Sweetie!
