so my clutch basket, slipper pads and shock pistons all arrived, question,do i sand the edges of the slipper pads so they drop into the basket or do i force them in? don't see where forcing them is the way to go as they seem to flex and not sit flush in the basket. i got the three pads and assume you put the third pad on the other side of the spur gear, yes? sorry for the questions but i am new to this type of up grade, thanks

Mine dropped right in. You should not need to force them in. Snug is ok but they should lay flat when in place. |
Right, one behind the spur, one in the basket, then the round disc, another pad on top of the disc, then your spring and nut assembly. mine is set with the outside of the nut flush with the end of the shaft. Absolutely no sanding or trimming necessary.

It looks like everyone uses about 24mm ride height front and rear. Could someone tell me exactly where you take this measurement from? Thanks.

I would give you grief for not doing a search, but I spent thirty minutes looking for it once in this thread. I wish CraigV would sticky it. |

Middle part of the chassis (where it drops down).

rc shox pads
hey with the rc shox pads is it still needed to run the spacer under the spring?

you should be able to run it with the stock setup. |
One more question.
I was getting ready to set aside an afternoon to change the oils in my diffs from the kit setup. I did a little research on AE's website and noticed they now offered lightened outdrives, aluminum idler shafts and lightweight top shafts. Is anybody using these? If I am getting into the diffs and they make a difference I want to change them now. Just wondering if it is really worth the $50 on these parts. |
Well turns out I was right, I took apart the front end to check the servo and the horn was completely stripped on the inside, so I replaced it with another one I had...... Anyone have any experience with these alum. servo horns and are they worth getting? I just don't want to keep replacing them, but then again it did give me a chance to redo my front diff and try a higher fluid (20k)...
