Ae just improved the diff cases & shims..
Check them out, makes um bullet proof.

A broken truck is not a bad deal if the price is reasonable.

Should go though and check first, replace the broken parts and off you go.

Brandon, I am a big believer in Ae products because Ae has been there always for me .
They offer the best support and set up advise around.

Many years of good fun times as a result..

shop around always a better deal.

Can fine a Team in good condition for the same amount with a little bargaining.

from what I am seeing as far as what the vehicle is selling for, I know someone who had a team edition, with a variety of factory team upgrades, exotek chassis that was like new and there saddle pack setup, variety of NIB spares, etc. go for about $170 shipped.

if someone is willing to sell one with damaged diffs, I would want a set of new gears for replacement personally, or at least factor that into the price.

Again, just me personally.

I think the selling price of these things on the used market should speak volumes about how good these trucks are as a race vehicle. I've owned two of these things, sold one and I am on the fence about dumping the other one. The fact is that with over a hundred dollars worth of upgrades, the time spent building the kit and sorting out the inherent issues with the basic design as built out of the box a roller is not even worth half of the street price of an unbuilt kit says a lot more than any one opinion on the board.

As an engineering exercise, the SC10 4X4 is truly something to behold. I even enjoyed building it. As a race vehicle though it leaves a lot to be desired. I don't expect any out of the box setup to be perfect for every driving style, but this thing is truly an undriveable mess out of the box. Funny thing is, none of the other AE base setups are this bad.

And yeah, if the diffs are shot you need to build that into the price. You're looking at $25 an end for the kits plus the teardown time.

A lot of whining here, but you're telling me that AFTER the upgrades the truck ISN'T worth it? I can pull just as fast of laps as our fastest guys now and they actually gained respect for the car. Did I buy all the stuff new myself? No. But for 170$ shipped I got a much better roller than a stock Losi which are completely over hyped/costed.

Don't be angry it doesn't fit your driving style of plug and play, I think the reason some of us like it is because of the tinker factor it takes.

Ah! I see opinions are not appreciated here and the only way to prop up the AE truck is to bash other brands and other racer's driving abilites. This will be my last post on this board then.

Good for you on the deal you got.

Welcome to our thread

Suggest you gear down a tooth , 12T is a very common size used on 4.5 .
Also check the slipper , make sure its adjusted correctly..

watch this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJJ26jnhf4M

you will learn that:

a. max works on his cars and constantly tunes them to his liking
b. he can drive well
c. that track has 1/8th style jumps and the sc10 4x4 is getting around without losing traction, and none of that "dirt track" type sliding that some other brand display from being overpowered.

I'm building my car now for outdoors and am looking forward to running it in Tekno/losi land.

btw, i did notice on all of his setups he runs the shock bladders, not emulsion. makes sense with big jumps.

Since I am preparing for a race and trying to leverage the dual shorty pack layout I changed to the what is shown in the photo below. I turned the batteries long ways and used the partition wall that came with the kit as a divider. This also allowed me to use the FT saddle pack mount parts to create a clamp. I dremeled the front cover that holds the servo so that the battery clamp could slide into it. As long as flex doesn't cause the thing to pop out I am ready. I really like this layout and have removed the belt tunnel completely.
