Ok looking for some setup help here. Below is the set up I started with and my practice tonight at an indoor track with rubber surface (most say its similar to high grip clay) was OK but rear was wayyyy loose in the corners (almost felt like 2wd) and it is not very straight on the backstretch (squirrelly for lack of a better term). Open for suggestions to try out and lock the rear end down in the turns

My setup is same as Kinwald setup link below with the following differences:

http://http://www.teamassociated.com...d_Standard.pdf

- running rcshox 2stage pistons with 30wt front and 25wt rear
- running exotek front locker hub and garodisc slipper pads
- running 10k front diff fluid and 5k rear diff fluid
- exotek chassis with exotek front saddle mounts
- STRC 0.5 rear hubs
- pro4 4000kv with 14t pinion/62 spur
All other settings are same as BK setup sheet
- Barcodes blue compound (should I run Greens?) on +3mm wheels

Lower your rear inner camber link, possibly take off the +8mm mod and go back to the stock middle position on the hub. Raising the rear inner camber link was something I and others did to stop traction rolling on carpet, so I can see how it can make the rear end feel loose. You may however still like the risers on the hub however.

I also liked 22.5 losi weight oil in the rear shocks with the RC Shox pistons other than on carpet. Not sure what brand oil you are using but my understanding is the losi oil is lighter than the AE so if using AE, you may be spot on to what I was running on most conditions.

the suggestion on the maifield setup is a good one.

Bk's setup works great for me on tight indoor, but I prefer maifield's on larger outdoor tracks... it pushes more, while BK's setup helps it steer tighter corners. I personally settled on bk's setup with the overdrive. No traction rolls but still has a controllable on power push because of the overdrive... faster getting onto the straight but a bit slower in the tight corners. You could also try running your slipper a bit looser as it will only effect the back wheels if you are running the exotec locker. This should help settle down the rear end when on the brakes or throttle.

I debated which setup to start with as a baseline, and I chose the BK setup because like you the indoor track I run on is a tight indoor layout. I will definitely try loosening my slipper (rear) and see how it responds

A lower rear ride height should help the rear stay more planted ...

Should I try lower in rear only, or total overall ride height reduction? Current is 23mm/23mm.

Will try reducing (7mm to 3mm) and even eliminating +8mm mod and going back to stock middle ballstud position and see how each of these variables play out. I am using Associated oil, but from your statement, wouldn't 25wt AE oil be much heavier than 22.5wt Losi if Losi oil is indeed lighter for similar ratings? Should I go down to a 27.5/22.5 or 25/20 AE oil combo?

Thanks for all the help guys, I look forward to trying out these options and reporting back out to see what worked, what didn't.

Drove a Tekno. What a phenomenal driving Truck. I'm quite jealous. Still working with my sc10 till our series is over. So I guess i'm not checking out just yet.

Try 19mm to 20mm.
Use same height front & back

Suggest going back to standard piston.
Go 37.5w Ae oil front
32.5w Ae oil rear

No arrogance intended: I know everything there is to know about this chassis as far as this thread is ever going to go. All we do is go in circles with the standard 13 month old BS mods amd the bickering. (including me not being able to hold myself back from sickening posts from dweebus) I've been with it since day 1, put over 2,000$ into this platform and won't be getting rid of it anytime soon, or until AE brings something real out.
But there's nothing to learn here.

If anyone needs help in the Portland Area, you can find me at Top Gear Hobbies.

nothing left to learn.?... why dont you just stick around anyway so you can bash on george a bit more? (scarcasm)
oh wait you already are..

carry on as normal folks:tire:

For sure. Keep in mind that bk's setup is loose in the back end which is why it steers tighter. I would go to a softer rear sway bar first. Tires are 90% of the setup. I typically run as soft of a compound as my wallet affords... the softer the compound, the quicker you'll be replacing tires but typically gives the best traction. Keep in mind that super soft compounds with large thin knobs can feel a bit squirrly until they are run down a bit. You could also try adding some camber to the rear, which will help in the corners, but make it worse on the straight... which is why I didn't mention initially because you said you were having problems there as well. I wouldn't go more than a 3mm difference in ride height between front and rear, but play within those boundaries and you should be fine.

He takes care of that himself. I just narrate.

Aren't you supposed to be bandwagon'ing and have a Prolite by now, getting out of the thread too?

FYI Bbradyc5, Try with and without the "8mm mod". It drives terrible for me indoor. Loved it outdoor.

So it looks like I'm making the switch to Tekin. I've been castle till now but the bec having issues with savox servos and spektrum receivers has reached a point where even with a cap on the receiver my truck dies every 5 minutes and resets. After DNFing my last 5 races I'm ready to try something new. I spoke with castle and they recommend buying a $20 external bec but I have a great deal on a RX8 and pro 4 4000kv motor in awesome condition so going that way.

I've heard the RX8 needs more tuning so any help with settings for RX8 and gearing for a pro4 4000 and rc shox center diff would be appreciated.

Will try and go a bit lower and see how it goes. It did seem 23mm was a bit high as compared to the few that seemed to bet turning quick lap times. Going to give the rcs two stage pistons a fair shake in these trials but would you still suggest a thicker oil anyway?

Yeah definitely gonna try softer compound as one of my first changes. I can see how one may like the rear to run loose and have that as part of your driving style, I think my setup is just too loose. Noted on the camber, don't think I can go more than the -1 I have now as it is already a handful on the straight

Definitely will give it a shot, seems like a few have this same opinion

I run the same combo, I believe I got 16t pinion and 10 degrees timing on the rx8, can't help you with the rc shox center diff tho

Reason I suggest the standard piston & heavier oil is because standard pistons usually performs better on smooth surfaces ....

check what tires the faster guys are using , also ask what inserts they are using..

Ae

I have using the new Lrp FLOW for a couple months now , that's like a year for most as I race & practice quite a lot .

So far all has been good ...

Incredible performance & it comes with a fan .
The case is now all metal & really helps keep it cool to help handle a Sc10 4x4 demands ...

Well got my car together and working properly! All I need now is a proper radio and I'll be set... Enjoying the SC4X combo though, seems to work fine for me and keeps up with the other 4x4's out there.

The car isn't near as hard to work on as others have said either...

Hey guys I have aquired 2 sc10 4wd trucks and looking to up grade both of them. On the first one I have added a exotek chassis with a saddle pack set up. I like the way this truck feels and I am running very close to fast guys at my track. The second truck is all stock but I will be adding the exotek set up to it all so. I have been looking around at different parts and I am wonder about your thoughts of the products from these people.
