I am a 10th scale offroad racer that runs a 10th scale 2wd buggy, 4wd 1/10 4wd, and stadium truck. never ran 1/8 scale. i browsed thru this thread and really no concrete evidence if i can. i have a novak Kinetic. tekin RS, novak GTB, that i can use. is this possible?

I ran the Kinetic in my Ofna 4x4 sc truck with a 5.5 HV motor on 2s and it was alright, The Tekin RS will not work as for the GTB I am not to sure.
If your looking for a cheap reliable setup go for a Brushless Hobbies ESc and Tenshock 4600kv that is what I run in my SC10 4x4 and it is wicked fast.

Think backward springs is something the guys with the ExoTech have to do ...;)

6oz's of extra weight to handle makes a truck that is lazy and they use to help .:batman:

Stock chassis performs better with the Yellows ...

ok i got now thanks

I don't think you guys are wrong, it's just that there's a big differance between adding 20 to 60g of weight by the servo vs 6oz of the exotek center chassis (170g).

Yeah, I agree. my comment was directed at the fact that when debating the merits of the chassis versus adding weight to the plastic chassis, it has been stated to just add the weight to the stock chassis with no mention of the benefits of the heavier springs. Hence, if you do that and the "reasoning" to use the stiffer front springs on the rear is to compensate for that as WC stated, then you would do the same with the stock chassis. ;)

I will say this, for those considering the exotek chassis versus sticking with the stock one, add the similar weights to the vehicle and see what you think. And also bear in mind that the exotek chassis will add weight to the vehicle at the lowest point possible.

And when you compare, make the appropriate changes to your shock settings.

sounds like it will work.

You can run 540 motors on it, however it appears you need to really watch your temps.

Bear in mind, the BLH ESC offers zero warranty. If you get one DOA you are out of luck. That has been the main complaints I have read about the ESC. At the price point and lack of warranty, you may find it better to just order the apparent HK clone that is like $38ish .

I try to totally different set of the other day I put Riversprings on the front and Riversprings on the rear politest possible whites in the rear and yellows in the front and she worked pretty good but I had practically 10 wait in my shocks The template is because I was running the sharks on my Kenskill T4 truck which was working out really good with the white starters and greens in the front but needs more experimentation probably some 20 waiting

I have heard of a couple but Stan is a reasonable guy I am sure he would work something out. As for subject of clones or not to clone thats a completely different topic which I usually stay away from......people get pretty emotional instead of thinking critically.

Stan Actually warrantied mine as it was dead out of the box. I am using the replacement in mine and it works fine. You just have to factor risk and time into your equation versus cost.

question for all

Saturday I had a pretty nasty wreck which dislodged my RX8 - pulled sensor wire out and everything.

So I plugged every thing back up and the motor makes a horrible sound and doesn't turn. Figured I messed up sensor wire. Unhooked the sensor wire and motor goes fine. Got another sensor wire (had one) plugged it up and guess what, the motor runs backwards (remember it was going the correct direction before hooking up the sensor wire). So...I switched two of the motor leads and it makes the horrible sound and won't turn. Switch back the two leads and it runs great - backwards, take out the sensor wire and it runs forward just fine. Do you think I messed up the sensor in the motor? It is a Tekin reline 4.5.

My truck uses the plastic chassis. I have two ounces next to the servo, and all the lightweight parts I can get. And I run almost 100% outdoor.

No matter what chassis you have, the rear springs are too soft if you want to run blues or yellows in the front. George is entitled to his opinion, and I'm comfortable with my calculations that disagree.

I tried a search but...does anyone have ant pro/cons using the R10 with a Reedy 550 5.5? What should my gearing be for a large indoor clay med/high traction? thanks

Liduno 03-14-2013 09:57 PM

Spent a good hour or so looking around but didn't really come up with what I was looking for, hoping one of you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I was trying to find a break down of what comes with each version. There seems to be an unlimited amount of different Price sc10 kits and different price RTR's, but no real description of what the differences are.

I realize there are lipo combos, brushed, brushless and some are 2wd while others are 4wd, but there really isn't a comprehensive list of whats different as far as upgraded aluminum parts and such in each kit or RTR.

Is there anything even close to what I'm looking for that any of you have seen?

Wild Cherry 03-14-2013 10:06 PM

Carver
The R 10 is a older brush ESC , will not handle the load a Sc 4x4 brings very well, suggest something else that can ...

Maybe you mean the R1 ?

pinion suggestion

14t 32 pitch / 62 spur
